Incredible 71 750 K1 "Domestic Model" find
« on: November 06, 2014, 03:44:27 PM »
Hey everybody
I had to share my latest 750 purchase.

This is an original untouched virgin "Domestic" K1 (from Japan)
A true "time Capsule"

It has 10K original miles on it, original paint, original seat, etc.

The original owner was a US soldier stationed in Japan in 1971, bought the bike, and shipped it home when he returned soon after,  and here it is.

As you can see from the pictures, it is a very interesting bike.

First of all, it is in amazing condition.

All the info and warning stickers are in Japanese

It has the "shift light" between the gauges. By the way, he changed the speedo to MPH when he returned to the US.

The tail light bracket is shorter than the US version

There is NO vin tag, and no holes for one, which makes sense since it has US federal DOT info on it, which does not apply to "domestic" models.

Now, here is the real stumper, the pipes are 341s and the original owner said that they have never been touched or replaced, so considering that it is a late 71, maybe the Japanese models had the 341s on them?
Maybe someone can clarify that.

Anyway, it is a very special bike and I am very excited to have it :)

Enjoy the pics and thanks for the long read.

Very nice.  I've only seen two other JDM bikes and this one is by far the nicest.  In fact looks like one of the nicest unrestored K1's I've seen. Cool piece of history.

PM me with your location, if you want to sell it. Had a guy on the weekend said he will pay well for a good lowmile 71.. . In fact he said he would even part with his blue-green KO to obtain one..

I do not know about the 71 but my 70 had solid rider pegs and the taillight had amber on the side not red.

That is very nice, excellent addition to a collection. Not sure if you were recently running the bike but the petcock in the picture is in the reserve position and not the off  ;)

Hey Frank if your friend has a lot of money he can buy this nice K1 in Michigan. Harder to find green color.  http://saginaw.craigslist.org/mcy/4737967547.html

Very nice find.  You asked about the 341's.  I have a late US k1, the same color, and it also has 341's
