JP, if you want more power you will have to get a souped up bike or try the 69-71 CB750. Those stock bikes are a bit faster than the 72-76 stock. However, most of us are not ridin' them for the power but for the nostalgia and fun. Good luck on your search...

I'm going to look at the 74 again tonight. I don't mind a bit of a project. Just means that I'll have a lower initial cost to worry about. I got them down to 725 now. My only real concern is the rusty tank. I'm hoping there is no pinhole leaks.

If I were you I wouldn't do any negotiating without being there in person.  This is even more true when you haven't even seen the bike in person, I know this is your second time seeing this particular bike.

When I sell a bike on craigslist and they say will you take "$X" for the bike I just say I don't negotiate in person and they need to come look at it.  Many times, they don't even show up.  The reason is, why would someone make an offer without seeing the bike?  It makes no sense and I think it is right to basically dismiss them as not being very serious.  When they show up with a trailer or a truck.  Then they are serious.

People that do this seem to be just after a "deal."  They just want to talk someone down or walk away knowing that they wanted X dollars and they paid Y dollars.  No offense intended at all, but you did negotiate a price for the other bike and then walked away.  Think of how you would feel if you got there and he added a couple hundred to what you agreed upon?

Not necessarily, Haris.  I have bought several bikes without negotiating in person and just have had a shipper pick the bike up.

Yes I did negotiate with the k5 owner over email as I didn't want to waste my time driving there and the prove want in the ballpark I was looking for. If it ran a bit better I would have bought it on the spot. The k4 that I'm actually buying tonight I have driven and it seems ok. Just needs come some cosmetic work. Is there a good place to get a seat for this as it is really rough.

You can find a member selling a seat here or on eBay. You will be surprised what a huge improvement a new seat can make on your bike.

Post some pics of the K4 when you get her home. Looking at the pics you posted of it- removing the fairing, sissy bar, a good cleaning and a new seat I think you will be very happy with your purchase. $750 is a good price for a running driving bike.

Congrats, looks like it has good bones and nice low mileage. Be sure to save those turn signals on the fairing as they are the stock Honda units with the correct stem. Be on the look out for a sealed head light and the chrome mounting ring parts, nice they kept the bucket mounted, and your good to go up front. Another plus is the grab rail is still there despite the sissy bar.  Tank doesn't look too bad in the pic, should be an easy clean out.  Good luck on it.

That jammer will hopefully be coming off this weekend. I'm waiting for the call from my dad. This is exciting! As for the tank what is the best method for removing the rust? Second question the previous owner said that he thought the tank was lined but was unsure. Does anyone know if they make a longer that actually ends up clear? Reason I ask is I don't want to try to remove the rust if there is a clear liner already.

Different people have their own methods for cleaning tanks, lots of threads. I do the toilet bowl cleaner as its quick and effective. It does not look like it was lined but hard to tell without seeing it in person. There are ways also to remove a failing liner but great care is involved to protect original paint.
Get an expandable plumbers rubber plug for the filler and make a plate with a piece of old inner tube rubber to help seal for the petcock holes when you clean.

Nice bike- Id say you definitely scored on that complete running bike. The tank does not look lined to me. Looks like bare metal and rust. I'd start out with the works toilet bowl cleaner as suggested and see what happens.

How much of the cleaner do I need to pick up? Or I'll do some searching later as to a thread that tells about the method. At work now so little browsing for me.

Agreed....nice bike and looks like she will clean up great! It will look fantastic once the new seat is on and fairing is off. It will look retro 70's for sure. I take my tank in to the local radiator shop for the cleaning and liner for a cost of $70. Just peace of mind for me. Just be careful if you use a caustic like the toilet bowl cleaners. It will mess up the paint real good. But if you are painting it then makes no difference. There are some non caustic cleaners out there too. Do a search on the board as there are some write-ups about them. Nice find for your dad...at 18,000 miles she is barely broke in. Let us know how you come out...

What radiator shop did you use in Oshkosh? The bike is actually in van dyne. Also if I take it to a radiator shop will the paint be damaged?

I have heard good and bad about radiator shoos regarding the paint. Id start with the works and see what kinds results you get. It's a mild acid- so just make sure not to get it on your paint or any aluminum parts. Take the filler lid off. Remove and plug the petcock holes. It's pretty simple.

Buy 5 gallons of white vinegar first. Let soak for a few days then check. Most likely will need a week to clean it.
