« on: November 10, 2014, 01:43:54 PM »
Hi all thanks for the help so far with my project bike, I have another question, im stumped as to where the starter motor wiring routes up to the battery, does anyone have a picture of the wiring showing both the started wiring and charging system wiring and how it all sits under the engine cover. many thanks in advance

cheers :-[

Doesn't go to the battery. The cable from the starter motor goes to one terminal on the "solenoid switch" relay. This high current relay (notable for its 6mm stud terminals to handle that current) is under a side panel, usually the left side panel. The battery cable (red to +) goes from the other relay terminal up to the battery. The cable route from motor to relay depends on model but basically snakes behind the engine cover and exits with the rest of the engine wires. Some models connect the harness power feed to the battery terminal on the relay, some connect it directly to the battery + terminal.

Hi It a 1980 cb650. there doesn't seem to be enough space under the engine cover to route all the engine wiring through it.
