Something I do-maybe not necessary
« on: November 09, 2014, 04:32:38 PM »
I do bring my K2 into my family room every winter. I always drain the oil, change the filter and clean out the oil tank. To clean out the oil tank I tape a folded up paper towel to a long stick and wipe the bottom. I always get some black stuff. Once it is inside I set a small pan under the engine drain hole and let it drip all winter. I always get maybe a full cup of oil in 5 months. Maybe not necessary but I like the old oil out. Since doing this I now let my cars drip overnight before refilling. Again, maybe not necessary. Thanks for reading. Dan

Just don't jump in and take off without oil. I'm so paranoid I never drain the oil unless I'm ready to refill right away.  I've seen it at the racetrack, a buddy ruined an engine. I'm emotionally scarred by that. lol.
I've got a buddy with 15 or so bikes in his family room. Pretty cool, they're mostly old or small harleys.

Me too, I put a large piece of painters tape on the tach as a reminder when a bike shouldn't be started for whatever reason.

If you really want to get more oil out tip the bike radically to the right side first till the peg almost touches. hold it for a little bit and then stand up straight again and watch it come out the drain. Do the left side the same way and more will come out. I always do the radical tip on my 750's and am surprised at the amount hidden in the side cases and other recesses  ;)

Again, maybe not necessary.

You are right about that. ;)
