bought me another bike and another KATANA PICS
« on: November 11, 2014, 11:48:04 AM »
Got to talking to a customer at work about what we did in our spare time, told him I fool around with vintage Japanese motorcycles and he told me he had a 70s Honda that he wanted out of his yard(his son had abandoned it there).  Sent me a photo that looked like this

Not sure what I was looking at other than a 400four tank so I went to take a look and this is what I saw

a 2000 CB250 Nighthawk with a 400 four tank and a big hump :-\ ::)   Mike, Mike, Mike what day is it?

No title, not running but he only wanted $120 delivered to my house.   Hard to turn down so it is here and will be parted out.  For me the tank is worth close to what I paid for the mess. I tried to start it, most likely the starter clutch needs to be rebuilt as it spins without turning the motor.  There is a new gasket on the cover so someone either tried to do it or butchered the fix.

27000 miles, could have been a MSF bike.  On my way to look at the 1991 Katana...Larry

Local Honda dealer?   Looks pretty clean, someone may have traded it in on a new CB??

It is pretty clean, I just read on the specs and I would not mind it for my stable - but that ain't gonna happen.

Can't see what size the engine is but the 900 Seca is a rarer bike. Think here in the states the 900 was a one year deal but was sold in Europe for around a decade. Is it a 900 or 750 ?

Looks like 900 on the side covers, I believe the Secas were good bikes, but never knew anyone that had one.

Yes, it is 900.  1983
Out of curiosity how much are they asking for it ?

There was no sticker, I will ask next time I stop there.  I think I saw it there before - unlikely for it to sell anytime soon.

Looks like I found it with a few key words $3450.00 serviced or $2950 with dirty carbs.  http://www.cycletrader.com/dealers/detail/Blalock+Cycle-836730?category=Classic+----+Vintage|2002322&dealerid=836730&schemecode=AD&source=OD,MI,FL,PSN,VWS,SDL&type=Motorcycle|356953,Trailer|3284663&&

That's a good-looking bike. I'd be mighty tempted, those Seca's were good bikes, if my memory serves me correctly.

Buddy of mine had a Seca xj650...was a nice little motor, but the shaft drive made for some awful handling...the thing had like 130,000 miles on it when he sold it running fine, never gave him any trouble.  I think the 750's were chain drive.  There is also a rare xj750 Seca Turbo.

I had a 650 Seca-worst bike I ever owned! It was  slow, got bad gas mileage and  had mediocre handling, but it never broke down in the 25K I put on it in the two years I had it.  Probably would have been quicker with chain drive and removal of all the crap Yamaha put on to satisfy the EPA.  Larry

Here is a photo of the Katana

Also, will be getting a bra(like I really need one ::) and backrest for the Corbin Seat(don't need that either)

I had an opportunity to ride the 750 Seca turbo back in the day but my favorite turbo was the Honda CX650
