Hi guys,
I have to buy a seat cover for my '77 CB550F2, and I want it as much similar as possible to the original one.
Could you please upload some detailed pictures of an original seat? It's strange but I can't find some decent pictures googling!

Good luck. I never had any looking for a replacement cover. If you have the original cover with only a few rips but otherwise all there, there is a guy on EBAY that will give you a free cover by sending him the old cover for a pattern. PIT REPLICA is his handle. My bike came with an after-market seat cover so i never had an original to send him. Couldn't even find a crappy one to send him. I ended up buying a good used complete seat for $180 off of ebay.

Duandob, actually I only recently found PIT REPLICA seat cover on ebay and I think it's the closest one to the original, more than the one that TwoTired says, because it has a sort of canal around instead of just a line. Look at the highlined areas in the pictures attached.

What do you think?

The seams on the original are molded/pressed in a special heated fixture.  Is that the particular feature you are seeking?  I've only seen that on actual OEM seats. 
(That seam is also a stress point where they split when the vinyl gets old and brittle.)

If you are that much of a stickler, I can take pictures later today.

Yes, I'm seeking that particular, in particular...and Yes, I'm the kind of person you describe  :D
If you can post some detailed pictures of an actual OEM I would be very grateful!

This is my 76 CB550F.  Apart from being dark brown, it has the same looks as my 77 F.  It was just easier to get at for the photo.

This one was purchased from the Honda dealer.  I bought 3 or 4 seats from the dealer before they were discontinued.   I think I still have a new brown one in plastic and in a box somewhere.

I was very disappointed with the cover I bought on eBay a few months back.  Don't expect any cover to be precisely like the Honda original.  And those are getting near impossible to find.

Could you elaborate the reasons and say where it came from?

The original covers had embossed "stitching".  I don't know if any aftermarket vendors do that, as it takes investment tooling to perform that operation.

Sure, the eBay seller was Joemama and the fit was very bad, it was apparent that he used the incorrect pattern.  Quality was fine, I bought another cover from him for a 550K and was very pleased with the quality, fit and price.
I have since sold the 550F to fund the purchase of a Kawasaki H1.

Bought a 550K cover from that guy in B.C. on ebay and the quality was great.

TwoTired... selling any of those seats in the future? I've got one old and one recovered but people keep trying to buy 'em from me. Let me know if you are selling sometime down the road

Look at this, is the one from PitReplica. It seems to be a very good replica, especially the seams. It just need the chrome stripes but I think I can reproduce them. Hoping it fits well i think I'll buy it

No plans to sell.  Sorry.  Who knows what the future will bring, though.


I'm not sure the embossed seams are the way to go.  They are nice for repelling water when new.  But, I have an old Travelcade sown cover that is still in good condition.  While, one of the OEM seats has cracked the vinyl in a pressed seam which is now showing threads in the crack.  That seems to be the pattern just before they split.  And, I've never found a long lasting fix for a split, besides total replacement.

It's a very good point to know that the Cover is made from Marine vinyl.

Found a guy local whos selling acb550F blue tank with seat and side covers for 350.00 CAD.
I'm gonna pass on the seat just because I've already got one for now and there is a 550F waterfall 4-1, set up for grabs too, not pictured. Total on the lot is 500.00 CAD so I guess its a good deal considering he's asking 500 for the above mentioned plus crash bars and rear fender with light.
