I've just got the first PR blurb for the PI Classic in January and there is no mention of a "North American" team.
Can any of our brothers in the north shed any light on the subject?

Cheers,
Brian

I'll be surprised if there isn't Bear. I'm away for a couple days but will check when I get home.

Pretty sure Dave Crussell out of California is putting a team together once again.  I'll ask Denis Curtis next time I speak to him.

Denis said Crussell was still the go-to guy and I haven't heard differently so I'm sure there's a NA team going.

Tim, did you get your bike to New Jersey in time?  ;)

Hi Brian,
Hope all is well. Hows things with the chair? all systems go.
The three of us, smith boys wish we were gearing up again for the ride down but it's not to be this year.
Doing a ride like that really does something to you. It's something all young fella's and their father should do.
Thanks again for your hospitality.

All systems go for the bike Adam, but not for me this year I'm afraid.

My fitness has taken a bit of a dive over the last twelve months. So I am not confident that I would be able to handle the lateral G's the high speed corners at PI can dish out.

And I'm not prepared to take the risk with Newmo tagging along.

Not to mention that I'm a little more in touch with my mortality these days. ;)

Have you managed to sort out your gremlins with the new beasty yet?

Cheers,
Brian,

Well Brian you just gave me heart a wee pitter patter.  ;D Are you going?

Pretty cool to rub elbows with the likes of Burgess. It's like a who's who... this is no group of also-rans.

I never did speak to any of the US riders that went last year. Dave Roper had an ankle replacement in November, but knowing him, he'll be there.

Sounds like a barnburner of a weekend, although I hunted forever to find any news. Not sure about sidecar races. The ex Jerry Kooistra CB77 based bikes, both in classic 350 & classic 500 were winners with Levy Day. That's awesome Jerry.

I did ask him a while back Brent but I can't remember his answer, Even if he's sold the bikes i think it would be hard for someone that passionate not to go...? Or maybe he's just had enough... ;)

Here's a vid of race2 aboard American Dave Crussell's TZ750. My frame builder friend Denis Curtis (CMR Racing Products) is good pals with Dave and this big TZ has a CMR frame. It gives an idea of the track layout at speed.

Here's Dave.

Yea that's awesome, he has every reason to be proud of that. Apparently Crussell had them all to his pit for pictures too. That might find a really good spot on the shop wall in Belleville huh Brian?  ;D

TT, do you remember the site for timing. I'd really like to get some laptimes.

Oh Simon, it's not about winning or losing, it's how you play the game.

On the other hand I wanted to see what kind of laptimes that Paton turned to win the 500 race......Seems he can make it pretty well. One CB500 a second back of his time.

we are finally learning how to play the game , now we do much the same as the Aussies and get a few current racers to take part . that and the fact we now build bikes especially to comply with the rules makes us more competitive .
actually australia were very unlucky this year , a host of machine problems held them back . was surprised that they fielded a rider who is just about to wild card at the world superbike round  . i know the stars bring the crowds in but somehow i preferred it back in the days when it was just owner riders racing each other . still the best classic race in the world though .

a good paton is a hard bike to beat brent , i have had one on the dyno and it made 84 hp . they normally lap at about the pace of an average tz 350 , maybe a little slower but not much . luckily philip island is all corners .
