Where to Buy Top End Oil Jets?
« on: November 17, 2014, 11:52:35 AM »
Hi guys, I just received my CB750 K7 head back from a cycle shop & noticed 1 of the top end oil jets (part #12238-300-010, #6 in the diagram shown below) is missing. I'm not sure if I lost the part on the way to the shop, or if they or the machine shop lost it while working on it.

Either way, I'm going to have to find a replacement unless it miraculously appears. I have pictures that show I had 2 when I first disassembled my head.

Does anyone know of a source for these? Everywhere I can find seems to show them as an obsolete part.  >:(

Another option. Look closely at the hardware packages on ebay. small bits that the strippers do not think have any value usually get thrown in with a bunch of bolts.

Hardware usually goes a bit cheaper that heads.

MRieck, that would make things much easier if so! I just got home to check & cannot find the part in the boxes that the head & jugs were returned in from the shop.

Anybody knows dimensions of those jets?  It should not be too hard to make.

Many have been the threads about making these. So far no one has tackled it. That I know of.

It really would be cool if someone could start making these. I know the jets vary over the CB years, but this particular style jet is the only piece in the cylinder head that's no longer made by Honda (aside from the casting, of course) or anyone else.

The guy at the shop told me that I'd need a new one because the old one had been lost. I'm almost certain I had both jets when I dropped it off at the shop, but I have no way to be sure. Anyway, when the shop owner mentioned one had been lost, I thought, oh no problem, I'll just have to get another. I didn't realize the part was unobtainium was flybox says. Otherwise, I'd have taken them both out before leaving my head with the shop.

Sounds like Mike can help  you out. If not ping me, I know I don't have an extra, but I have a few I can do without for a time, till I start that project. By then maybe 70CB750 will have made a few.

Check the classifieds, for sale. Someone may be sitting on a few.

That was proposed by a member as well, about 5 years ago.  Lots of excitement arond it for a few weeks, then it kinda fizzled out. AFter all, if the stock pieces are in good shape, the oiling is perfectly fine. A bypass add on would be an answer to a question not asked.

That would be great! I'm in for 2, regardless of price (within reason.)  Maybe 10 to $25 each?

I think that's an absolutely fair price as someone who would also like to have extras in case this happens again.

When it comes to machine work, I'm just a lay person. $10-$25 "feels" good, but whatever time it takes x an hourly rate I'm good for.

Not to hijack thread but could a Harbor Freight Mini lathe be a DIY tool to make these? Something like this:

That would not be that easy as the oil passes through the stud holes. On dedicated oil feed galleys, i.e. CB550, it is not that difficult
