US vs European !!
« on: December 04, 2018, 07:15:10 AM »
After a long break from restoring hondas in the US and enjoying my 1978 CB 750K in the warm weather  of Cyprus I have recently started working on on 1971 CB 750 originally registered in Netherlands. What I am finding though is that some of the information that I am finding from here and other websites do not match what I have.  For example, I have seen photos of the speedo and tach from a US version and the idiot lights are inside them, that is not the case with the version I have of the same year. Can anyone point me to where I can find this information .. or if you know for sure that it should be the same just let me know.

any help is greatly appreciated,

Constantin

Sorry this is the 1971, not very original at the moment.

you should be able to find this type of info in the partslist. it goes by frame and engine number, not year.
partslists are available in the technical documentation section of this forum, or on honda4fun.com (site is in italian but the documentation is english)

I am not sure the CB750 partslists show the engine- and framenumbers like they do for the CB500/550 models. If not, you could try  CMSNL: https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750four_model14344/
Cyprus, great for cycling!

I note the beautiful Bayrische Motoren Werke motorrad in the background. Excellent taste in motorcycles!

Crousos, If you are interested in restoring to original, I may be able to help you...  By trading cash for some of those un-original parts, namely the seat, rear-sets, and handlebars.  PM me if you are interested.

Hi there  seanbarney41, I still have not decided what I am going to do with the after market parts but either way I think me shipping to you would be cost prohibitive.

Well, when you decide, let me know.  It may not be a deal breaker, as those parts are generally just not around in the u.s.a.

yeah i've been shipping things the other way around, from us to europe. not necessarily a deal breaker.
it all depends on cost of the item, shipping cost, how desperately you want it... and don't forget customs.

For the CB750K, Europe did not have the intermediate versions between K2 and K6. Instead, they went directly to K6 in '76. All the subtle changes of K3-K5 did not happen on European bikes.

The european K2 had all the technical mods just not the styling ones. 500 four was the same as UK only got the K1 (smaller clocks etc) untill the 550K3 came in.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
