Yamiya dollar prices.
« on: November 18, 2014, 08:50:36 PM »
I noticed the dollar prices are lower on Yamiya's site. Must be the exchange rate. No name pipes approx $1280 plus $256 shipping to US. I haven't seen them in the 1200 range for a long time.

Japanese Yen is at a 7 year low against the US dollar. I'm ordering parts as well.

Shipping from Yamiya is super fast. I've received parts in 4-5 days.

Now that I have my no number pipes I'm sure they will be plentiful and inexpensive. You are welcome.

Any Euro guys on here should visit the Saisei-europe site ..He is now stocking Yamiya /PMC stuff for the CB750. Has nearly every Yamiya part listed or can get hold of it for you (takes a while if out of stock though). It's run by someone called David in North Yorkshire and you will get prices in pounds including VAT with no 'hidden' import charges. Agree that  now is   the time to buy stuff from Japan before it becomes 'The Land of the Rising Yen' again.

I have no connection with Saisei by the way ... but they sponsor the UK site and I bought a few parts from him recently. He's a good honest guy and he's also a biker but started off selling Z parts. Worth a visit to his site. (obviously sells  Z parts in a big way too !)

Order from Yamiya is always in Yen, the other currencies are there for information only.
Check the currency in a currency converter on iIternet to see what the credit card will be charged with plus eventual fees that credit card company take.
American Express charge a fee of almost 2%

It is possible to perfom a test order at Yamiya with shipping and everything, see the total  and delete the order before confirm and pay. I did that for 4-4 with all parts needed.... I reealized that I really need it and paid while tha parts were in stock and too much work to put everything in basket again.

Order from UK is maybe not a choice for me when I have to pay shipping from England which might be the same as from Japan. I have not seen that the cost will be lower by ordering from UK either.

The webcam 41A cam shaft look very pricey, £368.95 ($578US) + shipping to Sweden.
I can order from USA (Dynoman) $278.95 USD with shipping to Sweden. I did a test buy (that I have to delete)
Customs and VAT here + 30%=  $365US + additional fee localy at customs $15US =  $380US
I can buy from my local tuner that has webcam cams...  $375US

WOW! $200US less from USA or loacally here !!!!!!!
CycleX has this cam too, similiar price

Just read an article where Japan is now officially back in a recession and thought the article said they have the 3rd largest economy. They raised their sales tax from 5% to 8% and their economy is crashing. Another tax hike has been suspended but they are in financial trouble again. That could bode well for our exchange rate in the future.

Yes, low Yen (JPY) is good for the SEK (Swedish Crown that has fallen a lot compared to USD and GBP)
Mars- April 2013 was god times for UK orders.
Before last summer for USA orders.

Thanks for the tip.   About 4-5 years ago the British pound took a dump and I was able to get a new set of HM341s to my door step for $685.

I wonder if the yen will drop lower or stabilize any.   Any banking gurus out there - Looks like its time to buy some pipes.

Its as simple as going to google and typing in Yen to Dollar converstion...  If you have an apple computer just go to Calculator and type in the number in yen then go to Convert - Currency - and just make sure to update to the latest conversion price.  Everything is free.

The article I read said their economy in Japan does not look good, except that auto industry, and should be in the dumper for an extended period. I think the price may become even better for us in the near future.

A natural response. When an entire nation does it, it exasperates deflation and that's hard to reverse.

The Japanese economy has been in a death spiral for almost 20 years. The interest rate has been about zero fr that entire time. This works to your advantage as a buyer since your currency is stronger. If you are trying to sell it is not so good.  It does damage the balance of trade. I work for a Japanese Company and the Japanese do not want to go back which had been unheard of in the past.

I assure you these pipes are no made in Japan. They have been outsourced to some place like Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia etc. That is not a bad thing, it is just what happens when it becomes too expensive to produce domestically.

After not buying 341s from Honda when there was some quality issues, Im stumped what to do! Yamiya Machiv? DSS ?  My biggest fear is that they will rust faster than a Mac system! Look great but are they 40 year quality? Ill throw a nice 300 or no # on my k-4! I just want good quality 4/4 pipes! at a reasonable price! I know some have purchased the yamiya pipes over the last years but how do they look now? Have they been on a regular driver? In the rain on a camping trip for a few days or just lookers?

My post about saisei-europe was only really for people in Europe wanting to buy Yamiya parts. I think your equivalent distributor  in the USA is machivmotors.

I for sure won't be riding in cold weather on the sandcast now, I don't want any condensation. It'll be babied more. I ordered the trim parts from my local shop, they'll cost more but no shipping. Balance tubes, clamps, copper washers, bolts, etc.

If the bike is stored in a warm garage the pipes will last?

I have not checked my new 4-4 from Yamiya for small holes in each pipe in the lowest point to drain condense. Is that important?

I'd say they might not need to be as warm as they need to be dry inside and out. A garage with melting snow and salt can't be as good as a warmer above freezing shop with no snow melt going on.  I believe running cold is harder on them because i rode my new 500 short trips when it was cold and it rusted out fast.

Rather than "pickle" my 78K I run it every couple of weeks. When it is really cold you can see the water blowing out of the pipes. I run it a while until the pipes are hot enough to dry out.  I am sure that when I roll it back in the Garage, some moisture condenses inside them as it cools down.
