Early Case ID help

I picked these cases up with a bunch of parts. Is this a factory correction? Has anyone seen this?

Don't know about factory corrections.........but doubt it.  More likely a dealer replacement.............note the slightly irregular stamps ;)  I have seen a similar 'mark' applied by the State of Montana on a frame that was registered after it had been stolen.

Pretty sure that is a factory correction. All of the numbers, including the '9' are the factory font. Saw one very similar over on the Sandcast Only Forum some time back including the little diamond-x stamp. Pretty rare stuff right there. Have those cases been chain busted or are they solid?

Thanks for the input. The cases appear to be ok from what I can see, there's no signs of a chain breakage.

That mark is interesting, first time for me seeing or hearing about one. Always something new with these old bikes.

Wow the level of  info on this site is simply amazing! One for the old memory bank.
It always seems to be the 'droopy pear' as Vic World describes it, no.9 stamping that is usually a big indication on the correct stampings.
