Fuel Cap Latch Help
« on: November 23, 2014, 06:44:52 PM »
I know this is a stupid ass question. I didn't pay full attention when I took the cap and latch apart from the tank. Now I have new hardware and finished all of my body work and paint and am having a dickens of a time getting the latch spring set correctly. I think I have it in the right position, long tail against top of tank and short tail behind the latch hook. Is there an easy way to get this into place while inserting my bolt through?

Thanks in advance.

You just have to take your time. Get the pin started in one side and get the spring and latch lined up. When I got mine back from the painter I had to drill out the overspray in the pin holes. Here are a couple pics of mine before I took it apart.
