How to drill out spark plug wires?
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:19:58 AM »
Is there a how-to somewhere for this? My coils were working by the wire is fraying right at the coil (so no splicing). I haven't been able to find any inexpensive replacements that don't require a custom bracket for my 75 cb550.

I followed a thread  here that used a stick of romex,

First  drill a pilot hole about 3 cm deep where you think the center of your old wires are. Drill it to the size of a small piece if stripped romex.

If you are lucky you will find some new copper plug wire, 7mm. Drill a hole 2cm deep that size, stick your piece of romex in the pilot hole and then stab the new wire on. I leave mine with a bit more length than stock, and I epoxied a small boot over it, but is that really necessary? .

You can drill the large hole to almost that exact size, or as tight as you can squeeze the wire in.

Use the search feature and see what you come up with...

Edit:oops  half that  deep ...

Yeah, I put the epoxy in the windshield of a parked truck for a few sunny days. The epoxy kicked real well.

dont drill...use a nife and cut inn 3 cm inside the coil...then the  old vire can be pulled back aut

dont kut up from the end..so the vire can be pressed in throug a hole..and be nice teight and hold ..
let some matrial stand ca 10 -20 mm..so the vire are hold in place...cut in to the veld point ca 3 cm..inside and cut in there..then there are only a small hole to glue... i use lego meldet in acetone..and then filled in the coil..as glue..
