Well the saga of trying to get my exhaust situation resolved continues. After buying 4 into 1 MAC pipes off of ebay that were advertised for the 500/550, I had trouble fitting them on the bike. My exhaust collars wouldn't fit over the flanges. The seller kept insisting that they were for my bike and suggested grinding off some of the collar and some of the pipe flange. At first I didn't want to try this, so I called MAC and they thought maybe the pipes were for a 650 which have an outside dimension of 1-1/2", the 550 pipes have a 1-3/8" OD. The seller continued to tell me he tried the pipes on a 650 and were way undersized for the bike. I went home and measured the pipes and they fell right in between the two measurements. Out of frustration, I tentatively began grinding off some of the flange and some of my stock collars. I stopped because I wasn't sure it was right. The next morning he emails me to say that he sent a picture to MAC and they confirmed that the pipes were for a 650. Now he refuses to refund me because I did what he suggested and altered the pipes.

Now, I don't know how this case on Ebay will play out, but I guess my question would be if I'm forced to keep the pipes, and manage somehow to fit them on the bike- how will the larger diameter effect the performance of the bike? Would it be a significant difference? I'm pissed, please help.
