Help! Need some pictures
« on: November 25, 2014, 07:26:14 AM »
I am going to pull the left engine side cover off my Hondamatic 750 to see what the previous owner did to the shifting mechanism so it would start and drive in Neutral.

The service manual shows parts but since the manual valve on the bike was tampered with in order for this wheel chair, side car driver to enter the side car, start and drive off, I need to look at the valve and compare it to my altered one.  The driver has since passed away and I don't know who altered the manual valve.  I guess I could just pull the old valve out and replace it with a new one.

Anyone out there who might have some pictures of your Hondamatic would definitely be a help in finding what he did to this bike.

Thanks,

Dan

You dont have to mess with the change valve to start up the bike in gear.
Modify the change relay wiring. Bypass the start up immobilizier.
I find it hard to believe your bike is otherwise!

jukku,

This 76 was made to start in L gear to help the handicapped fellow out.  With the kickstand down which turns on the Neutral light on the bike starts like normal (as you already know) except this bike is not in Neutral gear, it is in L gear.  Raise the stand and pull the shift lever up and it is no longer in gear.  Pull it up again and it is in H gear.  I want it out of gear when I start the bike.

I really appreciate the time you spent on telling me how to make it start in gear.  No one else has taken the time to explain how to do it without messing with the change valve.  I'm going to save those drawings.

I do hope you have some ideas to help me fix the current situation.

Shopmanual side 10-2
-Neutral keeping spindle A
-Neutral arm
-Valve spidle

Sidestand down, neutralkeeping spindle turn counterclockwise,
Neutral arm A turn clockwise
Manual valve spindle to top position
Gear is now in neutral and gearshifter is locked

Sidestand up release the neutralarm A and neutral keeping spindle and unlock the gearshifter.

The 12 a´clock arm of the outer gearshifter operates the gearswitch (N-1-2)

Thank you very much.  This really makes it easy to understand how the side stand and shifting works on the master.  I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks again,

Dan

I sure will.  Need to pick up a gasket first. Would be faster if I had some heat in the garage.
