Canadian in Europe
« on: November 25, 2014, 11:31:19 am »
Hi,

I am planning a trip to Europe in the spring/summer of 2015. I am looking to fly over and get my bike once there, or partner up with one of those tour companies (although I would prefer to make my own way).

I have been scouring the web for a couple days, collecting info on boarders, insurance, international drivers licenses, etc. Most of the info pertains to Americans, but it is probably interchangeable to a certain degree.

Has anyone done this? is there an existing recent thread? Any and all tips and info would be great appreciated.

thanks

Josh

Josh, did you try this:

http://www.expats.cz/

That's expats community in Czech Republic.  I am sure you would find somebody there to help you.

There are quite few forum members in Europe - UK, Denmark, Germany, Norway, France and more - too.

I travelled Europe on motorcycle in nineties, but I lived in Prague back than, things got easier since that time.

thanks 70CB750.

the site was somewhat helpful, but a but broad ranging and Czech-centric.

I went over to the guys on Do The Ton, and they sent me to http://advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31 , which is perfect. For anyone planning a trip longer that a weekend, and out of your home province/country, this is an amazing resource!

you can also try this site for generic info: http://www.expatica.com/
but you're right, for bike travel stuff advrider.com is hard to beat.

give us a shout if you come through the netherlands.
