This is a real question
« on: November 30, 2014, 08:04:43 AM »
I have actually had this question on my mind for 40 years. If an expert racer/rider were riding a CB750 on a course where there was a very long sweeping corner where the rider was able to turn with the pegs scrapeing the whole way. How does the carbs still work right with the gas all to one side? Does the oil pump pickup become starved for oil and start sucking air as the oil is way off to one side. This is not something I worry about with my riding style. Thanks for reading. Dan

When in a turn, the bike is leaned to the inside to counter the centrifugal force (or is that centripetal).    The actual force vector experienced by the bike/rider/fuel/etc is roughly straight down through the tire.   This is similar to an airplane in a coordinated banked turn.

Ever have a drink on an airplane?      During a turn, the plane is banked 15-20 degrees, yet, the fluid in your cut stays level to the tray in front of you.

No, it won't be starved. Rather than type a long explanation, read this document and it explains that exact situation and how Honda handled it.
