Talked to the machinist today. The 13.5-1 Kaw piston experiment is now DOA. An issue with the canted valve angle threw a wrench in the works. Crap. Needless to say I'm disappointed, but I'm not deterred. 

Well, we're going to try the domed 10.5-1 Kaw pistons next. Lots less hassle to deal with than the 13.5-1's.  IF we shave the head some it'll bump the compression up.  It'll still be more compression than my current 1030 set up with the K pistons under the F2 head so I'll still gain more power- theoretically.

The next option will be taking Bear's advice on using the 250 Honda pistons.

We're experimenting here folk- R&D to the max.

The biggest off the shelf F2 piston available is from Dynoman at 70mm, 970. He can make any diameter you want on a custom basis. I was trying to use an off the shelf, readily available piston with  a 17mm wrist to go with the longer, stronger CB1100F rods I plan to use. Also looking down the road to using a 900F crank one day. I could always back track and use a K model head and find some used 73mm pistons. I'll eventually have to use the new, 73mm Arias 12.5--1 K  pistons I have set aside in my current engine because the bore is out of tolerance for the 72mm MTC  pistons in there now. I'm racing with worn parts right now fellas. Y'all just don't understand. The struggle is real. Lol.

Yeah, well, I might be getting a healthy dose of "help" with that.    When it gets done, it gets done.  It isn't, and shouldn't be, the top priority project for those involved(for whom I greatly appreciate the efforts )

George : With the carbs you built [ bored out ] stock looking  that flow better than 29's and your laydown frame and Bill having the time, knowledge and RC parts why would it not be the SOHC750 at the track in 2016 ? It was never the plan to have the dragster running for at least the first half of the season.  I also have plenty going on right now getting a road racer from scratch.  The dragster project is coming along, but any delays are almost entirely my own at this point.

And I have plenty of my own RC parts .  Enough vintage RC parts for 2 or three engines...heads, cylinders, cams, cranks, rods, big bore cases, exhausts, etc.  There is a fresh RC filled cobra clone engine going together for the dragster.

Everything is lined up right, and I have the rider all set.  It's just better to have it done right than done quickly.

I just received a set of forks and triples from a forum member. Once I order some tapered bearings, I plan to work towards making it a roller. I'll be using a GSXR 1000 shock to mock things up along with the 2000 Katana swingarm. The drawback to using the GSXR or Busa shock is the top of the shock has a dampening canister cast into it and it protrudes to the right side of the bike against the oil tank making use of the tank in the stock location, impossible. You can use the stock Katana shock from and earlier model as it doesn't have the dampener. Or, you could use a shock from a 91-98 GSXR1100 that has a remote nitrogen canister and no knuckle. I prefer the BUSA shock as it is more adjustable and suited to drag racing. If racing isn't of any interest to you, use the earlier Kat shock and retain the oil tank. I'm looking to buy the vertical oil tank that's sold by Cycle EX myself.

Not much to report on the progress of the engine. I decided to work on the chassis a bit, specifically gutting out the stock tank and mocking up the aluminum fuel cell. I cut out a bunch of unneeded sheet metal and got down to a bare bones tank shell. I was able to enlarge the existing filler hole so the fuel cell cap could fit through the opening. Though its close, it seems likely I can even use the fuel filler door and have just enough clearance to get it closed. I'd like to have the outward appearance look as stock as possible but still reduce weight overall. So far, so good.

Next task is to extend the stock Katana arm about 8 inches. Once that's done, I'll guesstimate my ride height and weld up the upper shock mount. I'm going to slam it as low as possible but need to maintain a minimum of 2" ground clearance.  Hoping to make this thing a roller in the next 46 days or so. Lots to do to turn this one into a bonafide race bike but you've got to start some where.

Yeah, pictures or it didn't happen. The old F1 tank was in pretty bad shape and too much work to try to repair. I decided to gut the tank out to shave some weight and install an alumimum fuel cell I already had on hand. The cell will be mounted directly to the frame. There's a lot more i could take out, but i'm trying not to make the shell too flimsy as i'll be using the original mounting points.

Pops, thanks for the offer on the FRP one piece body work. My plan is to keep this one looking close to stock but still very similar to my red F model. I'll try to duplicate the tail piece/ seat pan I made for the other bike. I can't find my metal mold so I'll do my best to fabricate another one. Odds are, it'll be completely different. Lil.

WIBUR: FRP BODY AND FRP gas tank not for sale= putting it on my HONDAMATIC 750 that might run 12-13's stock. I also have a TRACY body that I bought for $65 at a HARLEY outdoor sale event = not for sale going on my other HONDAMATIC 750. I will look out for you here in OHIO for one of those one piece bodies = who knows ??
