BTW, I used transfer punches to locate the hole centers as accurately as possible, but be aware there may be minor variations in the distance between the frame lugs from side to side, or between frames.

Here ya go, guys:

Thats great...much appreciated.
I notice that your new custom mounts put your feet further back and lower.....stockers were too cramped? How tall/ inseam are you?

Also.....is the reinforced hole at the rear only there to support the exhaust?

Jag....can you confirm that there are three motor mounts ( as opposed to 2 on the stock frame) they look like they are made of steel?......thickness of plate?

I need to remove my rear wheel soon...if you need detailed pics/ measurements of it let me know. Probably in a week or so.

Thanks

Steve

Mine was built for the CB750F1 and so the ignition switch should be part of the instrument cluster - although I opted for the K1 - K5 type switch and clamped it to the fork stanchion.

Steve, I just noticed your ignition switch mount is brazed to the frame. Mine is clamped on.

I used those reinforced exhaust mounting holes to locate a set of pillion pegs.

Thats great...much appreciated.

As far as I know, the reinforced hole was meant for passenger pegs. I have my feet on the passenger pegs in my avatar pic, which was nice when cruising at high speeds. I made the new mounts to be a compromise between the original peg location and the passenger pegs. 5' 8-1/2", 33"(not sure how to accurately measure?) inseam. ;)

I heard the name Ross-Seeley applied to my bike when I first got it, but thought my buddy David Ross, who had wired the bike for the PO, was playing a prank on me?! In any case, D.R. gave me the most Seeley info I had before finding Axl's site.
The David Ross you are asking about may have been the original importer of my bike, hence the association??
You might try contacting Ross Racing LTD in Milford, NH, and see if they are related to David...

Yep that David Ross.
I found out he was who my bike(as a frame kit) originally was delivered to.

I managed to get in touch with Colin Seeley.
My bike (and two others) were sent to Ross-Seeley racing out of NH when new.
Don't have much more then that.

Colin was able to give me a small amount of info.  Mostly a piece of the larger puzzle.
He asks for a donation to a charity he is involved in.
If anyone wants I can get them the info.

Hello all,

I have only just registered on the site, the reason being I have just acquired Seeley Honda #SH7-672F.

It's been stored for a number of years but really only needs a bit of TLC to bring it back to road going condition.

Cheers   Geoff

Hi jaguar/scottly,

I obtained the bike from the 1st owner who saw it at a London bike show in 1978 on the Seeley stand and bought it there and then.   He used it for commuting into London until he changed to a more practical machine.  All told it has only done 8000 miles and is I believe 100% original, comes with a duel seat too.  It was last on the road on 2002 and I now intend to re-commission it rather than a full restoration.  I'm located in Trowbridge, Wiltshire UK BTW.

I will be picking it up on Wednesday  ;D

Cheers   Geoff

Great to hear that it will remain a "survivor" rather then restored.
Was the bike on Ebay in the last year?  I try to keep a record of them when they pop up.  Now at the office so I don't have my folder with me.
Just wondering.

Hello jaguar,

The bike last had a UK tax disc in 2002, so I assume that was the last time it was on the road.  After the gent stopped using it for commuting I don't think it was used on a regular basis.  It has only completed 8000 miles so although the engine may need a refresh after being inactive for so long I hope no major parts will need sorting.  As far as I know it has not been advertised on eBay.

I heard about it in one of those unlikely chain of events which put me in touch with an old friend from my apprenticeship days.  He now lives on the Isle of Man and as I was going to take my Seeley T500 Suzuki to the Classic TT to take part in a Parade lap we became friends on Facebook and arranged to meet up.  He then mentioned his brother-in-Law had a Seeley Honda, "is it for sale" I quickly chipped . The gent is now 81 years old and no longer rides so he said "it might be, I'll give you his contact details".  The rest, as they say, is history.  The gent is a very fit looking 81 and still works as a photo-journalist but I think he is happy that his (owned from new) Seeley Honda 750 is going to someone who will appreciate it.  I got it for a damn good price, and did state that he could get more than I could offer, but he accepted.

Cheers   Geoff

Hi Geoff and Congratulations on your find!
It seems totally unmolested

I'm currently rebuilding mine (SH7-655F) and my rebuild write-up can be found in the "Project Shop" section of the forum.
You could do me a favour and publish a photo of your bikes numberplate mounting arrangement?

regards
Thomas

Hello Thomas,

I'll get some photos of the No. plate mounting set-up tomorrow and post them on your project thread.  I'll start my own thread in project shop and leave this one to get back on topic  :D

Hello this is Karl, Seeley number 660 I bought it about 1983 (give or take) it came with a double seat and slightly smaller fuel tank but I damaged them and only the single seat is left as shown. you can see due to getting older and it's a often  bit cool here in Tasmania so I have now fitted a Honda CR fairing (actually if you look close you can see the indicators etc arn't fitted yet. It was a daily commute for about 10 years or so then a life time of getting dragged around in boxes before getting registered again with a different engine ( 1977 F model ) and soon to be change over to a special interest registration where it will only come out on Sunny days.

the unfortunate changes are 3 inch section of the frame has been replaced due to crash damage, the frame is now powder coated white (Tasmania doesn't have a nickleplating shop) the double seat and smaller fuel tank were badly damaged and thrown away (about 1992 ) . actually the double seat was much more comfortable than the single seat so I do miss that.

it was purchased in a motor bike shop in the suburb of Moonah , Hobart Tasmania for $2500. it came with a GT860 fairing, double seat, polished aluminum tank. The previous owner came from England and had bought a BMW boxer (i don't know his name or what was the reason for his moving to Tasmania)
