Tell us how this forum started....
« on: October 05, 2006, 03:35:24 PM »
Being the curious fellow that I am, please will all the moderators, and Bob, tell me how this forum got started and how each individual became a moderator, pins/patches person etc etc.....

I think that it is great that we have very active site co-ordinators all over the world.

I've only been a member for a couple of years. I first found the site via Google search when I was trying to resurrect my 750 after 20+ years in the corner of my garage. There are several members who have been around since the beginning. The site owner, Glenn Stauffer can give a very detailed history. I think he has somewhere, I'll search for the thread. Glenn asked if I would be interested in being a Moderator after one left the forum. Might be one of his regrettable mistakes.  ;D

when i'm not in the saddle... i'm in the deskchair in front of the computer.
the forum was growing with astounding speed and bob, steve and glenn decided they may need an extra hand... i think they simply noted a bit of extra dedication on my part to provide patches and pins and figured i might be sticking around a while.

guess what... I AM

thus, i am the latest mod to the site.

i joined the site pretty early after it's debut... i think i was within the first hundred members.

i just wish i was around for the original greenspun board!  actually, maybe not, cuz that would make me really old... like bob  :P

Here's the thread I recalled, gives some background...

Glenn is to be commended for his efforts and the moderators, I'm sure, have their hands full
doing their work. This is the best site by far! The bikes, the guys, the quick responses to help a
fellow member out, when the need arises. Then there's the vast amount of knowledge and
experience and that is astounding! Thanks again guys for the efforts to keep this site up to date
           and in shape.
