Best Motorcycle Dashboards
« on: November 30, 2014, 10:22:52 PM »
As a big fan of good design, I am always interested to see how motorcycle gauges and instruments are set up.  Now days most new bikes have digital dashes, which drive me nuts.  At the same time, I prefer a dash that provides me with more information than 3 warning lights can provide.  In my opinion, no dash has ever been better than that of a 1983 GPZ750.  The dash and speedo are analog, and there are lights for the turn signals, sidestand, low oil pressure, high beam, and neutral.  In addition there is an LCD fuel gauge, and the speedometer became a voltometer when you held a button down.

I like mine. All together. Very simple. Can change from Trip A/B, ODO, rev counter (numeric), trip time, total time, clock, max speed, max revs, etc.

I agree, I prefer a single multi-function gauge in lieu of "dashboards" for bikes. While the Acewells are nice, I think the MotoGadget units are just a bit nicer, though they do cost an arm and leg...

+1 on the motogadget gauges, they are beautiful...

I've always thought Honda did a great job on the instrument panel for my '90 CBR1000F.  Clean and uncluttered.  I dislike LCD displays on the more modern bikes.  This bike is going on 25 years old and all the instruments and lights still work like new.
LCDs aren't quite so durable.
