I'm not very facebook saavy. If a message is sent to someone and you're not a "friend" does the recipient actually get it?

They do get it, but it goes to their "other folder".  They won't receive any indication that it is there and will have to manually go through and view it.  It is fairly simple though.  You click on your message icon then click other.

Would a complaint to his ISP help? Using the internet to rip people off can't be legal.

The only way this situation is probably going to work, out other than someone knocking on his door and giving him a beating, is smarter online transactions.  No offense to the OP, I learned the hard way myself and if Alaska wasn't somewhere in Canada I would have "collected" my funds.  Yesterday I sold a Corbin seat for a CB1100F, printed the shipping receipt, sent the buyer a pic of the receipt, and then waited.  When the funds posted to my PayPal, I shipped the package.  When I buy or sell things over $150, I use Goods and Services on PayPal and include a description of the part.  Sure you take a small hit from PayPal but its more secure.  OP you have my sympathy and I hope everything gets resolved in your favor.  Its a small community and for what its worth, his name and ID are on my little Shop's wall of shame.  One of us WILL run into him some day... >:(

Here's the latest...Jake's mother has emailed me. I won't divulge the content, but she has asked me for two weeks for her to get me the money.

She has also asked in the meantime that all nasty correspondence stop. SO please guys, cease & desist, I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt.

This all sounds too familiar & I may end being the trout again but we'll see.

I certainly want to thank everyone who helped shake this loose. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Good to hear, I didn't get to the second page and I sent him a polite PM asking him to pay you.
I hope for his sake he follows through with compensating you.

Yep. Lying, cheating, and stealing definitely point to serious personal deficiencies...

Ok, per Brent, let's give him two weeks.

If no money on the 27th, they both get hammered hard. Keep us posted, BW.

I agree with Stev-O.

Hammer time on the 27th.

If that was in fact his mother I think there should at the least be a phone call between herself and Brent. Anyone dug up mom's phone number? Might be a total surprise to her. Should be initiated on Brent's end so it's his legit mother on the phone.
