I wish I had a faster scanner because I have access to warehouse full of manuals, magazines, literature, etc. Some really interesting stuff in there. I know already that if I go back to school to advance my degree, I'm totally going to do my thesis about the women's gender roles in auto and motorcycle advertising via a sociological perpective. I love the sultry blonde girl o' the month found in vintage late 60's to about 1973 Norton ads. . . .lol. Classic stuff. . . .

(((previous posting, below)))

'allO all. .. .

I make a living with my significant other selling automotive, construction/farm equipment, and motorcycle literature on eBay, etc. Due to my own interests, I have been scanning a ton of the articles that apply to the vintage Hondas (and BMWs too - I know, heresy...  lol) and making them into .pdf files (use with Adobe Acrobat and/or Reader). I hope to eventually scan in any applicable factory shop/service manuals, too.

Since I have been lurking here in the forums for months, gleaning lots o' information from everyone (which has REALLY helped me get my CB500 going - especially the manual downloads) I want to share with you all, in return.

Here is the address at which I have posted these .pdfs and will continue to add more. . . . .enjoy!

lol. .  . .I know it, that bike is something else. I like everything about it except the pinstripes and color - a little too '70s for me - lol (it could be worse though - like harvest yellow and avocado green or something)

@heffay - I'll be around in the forums, for sure. Its amazing what I have learned in the last few months lurking around in here - thanks again to everyone sharing your knowledge, it really helps us Honda newbies out.   ::)

I have access to hundreds of these 60s - 70s magazines but there is kind of a 'hole' in the collection around the mid to late seventies so I haven't been able to find much on the 550s or later 750s, yet.

I will be putting up new .pdfs as I can so keep checking. If I put up a bunch at once again, I'll try and post to let you all know.  ;D

I love reading the reviews and test on the 750 and 500 from when these bikes first came out - they were sooo good compared to the rest of the bikes at that time, that the other manufacturers were totally left scrambling to catch up.

That's a fine collection you have - I just spent a few minutes perusing the 750 road test.

I have previously seen an article in cycle world about the 350/4 and it makes interesting reading,I will always remember a comment about the 350/4 being like a "digital readout wrist watch - a fantastically intricate toy!"... wouldn't mind getting my hands on an original copy of the mag.

It just goes to show how much of a revelation these bikes were in their time - but also how much the technology has moved on... no-one would comment now that a disc brake like the older SOHC's had on them would "stop a bus"!

I should be posting articles on the 350/4 eventually, as well. I was trying to get the 500/550s and 750s up first. My scanner is kinda slow and I am fairly new to creating .pdfs but I'm trying to scan in all I can.

We have had just about every Cycle, Cycle World, and a host of other magazines from the 60s and 70s come through so I want to scan all I can before we sell them off - kinda a unique opportunity, for sure.

This magazine is particularly interesting:

found at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-MAR-Cycle-Harley-Davidson-XR750-XR-750-cc-Honda_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34236QQihZ013QQitemZ230021007937

It compares 7 of the 750 bikes at that time and the Honda does VERY well.. . . also, Harley gets caught cheating by submitting a non-stock cycle to the test . .. . lol

There was a similar shoot-out test for the 350s but I think we've already sold it. . .. these vintage magaziens go pretty fast.

Very nice.

We collect these files too. Can we rely on you not to move them and link to them in our FAQs?

We also have an "Ads & Brochures" gallery. If you don't have "ownership" issues, could you email the files to Glenn so that he can upload them

Thanks

You're doing a grand job. I imagine that the Cb350F probably didn't quite come out as well as the 750 as it's heavier and slower than any of the other 350s I'm sure .... although it was probably more refined and better finished??? I guess I'll just have to wait and see.  I remember seeing a 70's Yamaha 350 two-stroke at a recent rally and it looked TINY next to my 350F. Would have left me for dust though I'm sure - if only until the engine blew up...!! ::)

I will leave them up as long as possible - unless bandwidth becomes an issue or someone has a stick up their bum about copyright. . .lol. Its my work hosting addy and should be able to handle it OK.

However, the .pdfs are there for peeps to download - keep 'em, swap 'em, collect 'em all!  lol

I have been in communication with Glenn - if he wants to mirror them on sohc4.us, kewl - more the merrier.  ;D

MoTo-B -- you've made a great contribution to the site  :)  I love reading reviews from the past about these bikes.... any bikes really, probably like most of us here... and anxiously await more about the 550.
Don't use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice.

thank ya - just glad to contribute back to the site. I was picking everyones' brains on the site here for months soaking all sorts of knowledge, lurking about. Want to try and return any knowledge that I can offer   ;)

I should be posting some more over the weekend - hopefully later model 750s and any 550 and 350 stuff I can find. Ihave been busy doing the work thing and riding. I'm starting to get carpal tunnel in my right hand from 100s of miles of riding, these last two weeks. .  .he he.

I should be able to get some other 350 stuff up soon, I know we have some more articles on them. I would love to try one out some time - sometimes I kinda think the 500 I have is a bit much for me but I seem to be managing OK.

I went with Moto-Bunny because my other big hobby, other than turning a wrench and playing guitar, is my bunnies - I have 3 house rabbits (all litter trained and cute as heck) . . .he he.

I just read the cycle guide article on the 350.

I've always thought the gas tank from the 350 (like yours) was the closest to the classic "cafe racer" tank that any manufacturer produced...I may just look for one on eBay...for when the "cafe racer" bug bites...   ;D  (I know it's coming)...   :P
...stock 1972 CB500 '500 Four' undergoing re-assembly...
...Stock 1972 CL450 'Scrambler' also being re-assembled...

You know you're right about the tank I hadn't thought about it before but it is more Cafe'ish than some of the others. Perhaps thats why I likeit so much! I like the cafe style - mind you people seem to turn the 400-4's tank into a cafe style quite easily and that's a completely different shape. Have you seen Andy Harrisons 400-4 cafe- it's gorgeous.
