My personal preference, as a female, would be ads in which woman are actually RIDING motorcycles, not draped over them like ornaments. Kick-starting a bike in spike heels is not only difficult but kind of dumb, doncha think?
LOL .. .yes, totally. Since I have been listing these older motorcycle magazines, I notice where a shift in attitudes occurs in the early '70s - where ads go from the women being just eye candy or always on the
back of the cycles, to actually riding the cycles and wearing appropriate, riding clothes.
Personally, I think heels are pretty dumb in most circumstances - I watched a punk chick (probably) break her ankle a few weeks ago tripping on the floor at a club. They have their place, I suppose, if you just want to look pretty, but they sure aren't condusive to actually being able to do anything requiring much mobility in! (especially kick starting/riding a bike. . .LOL) I'm to be found most of the time, in combat boots or Dr. Martens, myself... (a hold over from my punk days and perfect for riding in)
I was just kinda thinking of when working on my degree in Sociology, there were some pretty militant feminist types that were seemingly offending at any women in the 'eye candy' role. I'm a feminist, for sure, just not that intense about it, I guess. . . .
