Industrial shelves = hoarding or organizing?
« on: December 16, 2014, 10:54:23 PM »
I asked Santa for 6' tall x 8' long steel shelves for christmas, and some plastic totes to sort and store my excess cb750 stuff. Is that organized hoarding? I can still use the rest of the shop, and nothing is in the house except the slicks from the race car. (spare bedroom, cool in there, welding is bad for the rubber)

Can't be too organized-------------------------------------------------- While hoarding  :D
It is nice though to pick your own part off a shelf and not E-bay though.

Yes, organized hoarding!  I've built 1 custom shelve unit with cabinet grade plywood and have plans for another, much larger unit for one side of the garage.  That would replace the short, crappy plastic shelves the wife bought years ago.  The new unit will be built all the way up to the ceiling - more space  for more parts!

My cousin managed one of those GAP clothing stores.  When they remodeled, he called me and I was able to hoard about 200 linear feet of 24" stained wood shelving and all the bracketing needed to shelve one whole garage wall.
I was doing a good deed when I SAVED it from the trash heap ;D

I had to hoard some shelving myself recently...got this warehouse sized pallet rack, upper level for storage-

lower level serves as workbench and can be seen behind the new $50 550 which I need to hoard some parts for to complete

Should have used that rusty rear rim to talk him down to $45. At least yours is indoors. I can't remember if I paid $50 or $100 for mine, but it is still an outdoor bike.

We found a few of those notched shelves like the big box stores use, put a few 10' up or more. made room for two CNC machines.

The interceptor got moved to the chicken shed. (Back burner.)

I think Santa used my truck to get me shelves over the weekend. I went to a racing trade show in Indianapolis and when I got back the seat was moved, the radio was on a new station and the junk in the back was restacked. lol.

Wait a minute, Now hoarding is okay?
What's this, a new shop fashion statement has arrived so now it's in vogue as long as we use industrial shelving?
Do you know how many bikes I passed up in the past few months?
Now the 12 step program is bullsh1t?
Well that's just fine , I'm gonna run right out and buy a bike, and some more shelves... and maybe even another bike .

Nice . I kinda go for the rough ones myself, keeps my interest and guarantees a better than thorough rebuild. There's usually just so much stuff to repair that riding it before it's ready isn't an option.  So when it's done , it really is done.

yeah, I agree...although the more complete F0 I have already been ripping around the neighborhood :D

It's just kinda funny, couple weeks ago I scored an incomplete 550K0 with no title for $50 so I have been scouring area Craigslists for a titled frame and missing parts.  Then these popped up and I had to have them...still looking for the 550 stuff.
