1973 Honda CB125 Project - aka "Apartment Bike #2"
« on: September 11, 2014, 03:36:30 PM »
Yo,

Been a long time and I actually kinda miss posting on here.
Anyways, I am the new owner of a basically complete 1973 Honda CB125 with no title and a seized motor (see below)..
So, with the cold weather coming into Chicago and me being bored I have decided to build a "art" piece outta the new
to me scoot. The goal ? Make something that looks like a badass little cafe-ish bike to sit proudly under my TV in the apartment.
Hope to have some tear-down pics posted up sooner than later.

Enjoy !

All the stock parts I remove are being saved and will be put up for grabs eventually, so stay tuned.

Glad to see you back, Joe.  Although mine were both '80s, I gotta soft spot for a 125.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Project update: 9/26/14

Been super busy in the barbershop and launching my new company aka http://www.Sixty8Chicago.com , but I have had some
time to tear into the CB125 and get some parts ordered.

First was to strip down the frame and get rid of  e v e r y t h i n g that didn't need to be on that bike. The thing is never going to move under it's
own power so I had a field day with a sawzall.

Stock:

Not:

Also got these rad 10'' shocks offa Evil-Bay (stock measure in at 12'') for next to nothing.

I am aware people are having a hard time putting their heads around me spending $$ on something that is never going to move, but in my defense I am searching out the most economical way to build this thing and still have it look sweet. These shocks were  c h e a p !

Also picked up a new/used front-end to swap with the one currently on the bike.

The current setup is bent, and is in pretty bad shape. The new to me version will get internally lowered and the front fender and brake mounts sheared smooth before going back together.

Stay tuned...

Hey Joe,

I'm new to the forum here.  I bought a 1975 CB125S a few years ago, spent the last two year slowly restoring it to near show condition.  The bike was going (key word "going") to be in a vintage bike show on a Sunday in Sept.  The Saturday before the show my son and I went for a ride, he was on the CB and I was on my VFR800 following him.  Long story short he got cut off on a road he broke his collar bone, and the bike was damaged...the day before the show.  I've got it pretty much put back together except for two things.  I can't remember how the two springs connect to the rear brake pedal and brake light switch?  None of the manuals I have show how these connect and I can't find a good picture on the web.  Could you take a picture showing the connection points of the two springs for me??   The other problem I have is the front fender was damaged, dented and scratched when it hit the pavement.  Would you be willing to sell the one from you bike?  I don't really care if it has some spot rust on it, might be able to polish it out, or if I have to, I'll send out it to be chromed.

Any help you can offer on either of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

tireguy

What are those front forks from?
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.
