With enough research on model building on the internet, even a rank amateur can build a pretty nice model. How about practicing first on a cheaper kit or two, maybe a car would be a good way to learn, then a motorcycle for the 2nd build before the nice Tamiya? I haven't built a model since I was a kid, but I do remember that persistence and patience were key ingredients to a nice result.
