Highest milage riders
« on: December 17, 2014, 11:00:23 AM »
I am doing a search for the four highest milage riders on the site. Not milage over the years but now. This means last year with a plan to do the same next year. Must be on a CB750. Thanks Dan

CB750F2. 10k in 2013, 9000 and change this year, and I might get one more ride in before NYE.  Daily riding/commuting plus trips.  Next season I'll be in Colorado, so mileage is expected to increase :D  I don't think I put the most miles on, but can probably answer questions if that's what you're after.

Cheers-

I don't mean to be coy. I have a product that I would like four high milage riders to test very soon. No cost. Just need an honest test and review. Thanks, Dan

Member Seanbarney has racked up some major mileage the last couple years. Saw him just twice within the last 10 days still ridin' here in Michigan.

Scotty, No it is my inside the petcock sintered metal fuel filter. It is detailed in tips and trick under the carbs section. Hondaman has tested it and thinks it works great and thinks I should sell kits. I have 60 K miles on my K2 and I think it works great. I really want people who ride and can give me an opinion as to if this make sense on a very limited sales basis. They are cheap to produce and I really was looking for 4-5 people planning to put some miles on an early CB750 to tell me what they think Thanks Dan

OK, I thought that as you mentioned Iron-butt type miles, it might be comfort related. Carry on, and good luck with your worthy endeavor! ;D

My F2 isn't the right bike for it anyway, but same here.  Winter be damned.

Dan, while I can't help test, I also have a K3 and when you sell these I'd buy one :)  Looks like a swell idea to me!  Hope you get the data/input you're looking for.

Thanks andrewk, In 1972 when my bike was built it was very common for carburetors to have sintered metal fuel filters where the fuel went in. I am surprised Honda did not design something like this in the petcock at the time. I guess they never worried about 40 years later and rusty gas tanks. I still need to do a test on the filter with the Works toilet bowl cleaner. I don't have rust in my tank so I just clean mine with a soak in carb cleaner and air blow out. If someone had a lot of rust maybe a soak in the works would clean it out. Can anyone predict what the works will do to brass? Dan

Yeah, I suppose they figured the screen will keep out the rocks and the jets will keep out the pebbles. :P

Works shouldn't harm the brass (didn't harm the petcock tube in the old petcock I used for a plug), but vinegar or acetone might be a better/more efficient way to get rid of rust in the filter.

Vinegar works wonders for cleaning rust out of a fuel tank.
