Spin-on oil filter help
« on: December 25, 2014, 03:21:05 AM »
Hello, I picked up a 1973 CB750 and the bike had a spin-on oil filter.  Long story short, I cleaned the bike up in preparation for a complete "going over" and threw the filter away.  The only spin-on adapter is a steel threaded nipple with the engine threads on one end and the filter threads on the other.  The filter I need has a gasket O.D. of approximately 3.750" and an I.D. of 3.380.  That is the approximate engine boss size.  Does anyone know the identity of this very large filter.  Thanks in advance!

Yes, I did search but was unable to find anything on this nipple only adapter.

The filter is available from vintagecb750.

I searched for a replacement for a year or more with no luck.  There are filters out there that match the o-ring size and the thread too, like NAPA but they are not concave enough to clear the nipple.

Eventually I gave up and made an adapter for Bosch 3323 spin on filter and thats what I run for quite a while now.

If you put lot of miles on the bike, buying filter from Canada will get old fast, if I were you I would look for an alternative.

If you go over to the Randakk's site he has a list of filters for the spin on adapter he sells, they should fit yours also. I use a Bosch 3330.

Here it is on my GoldWing, but I kept it when I sold the bike and it's on my 550 project now.
