Engine Break-in

Couple basic questions regarding break-in.  I've installed the ebay 836 pistons in my '77 CB750A along with a custom camshaft I had WebCam grind for me on my stock matic cam.  I've also done a fair amount of porting and chamber cleanup.  About to button up the top end.

I'm wondering what guys use for lube (if any) on a new cam in these motors and what oil would be recommended for break-in, bearing in mind it's an auto.  I'm assuming the engine braking on the autos is a bonus when it comes to break-in runs.  Any other thoughts?  Still have a bit of work on the frame, etc. before I get the motor installed, but I'm getting close.

Assembly lube and normal non-synthetic motorcycle specific oil

PLEASE don't get an oil thread started!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

My last new cam from Webcam came with its own assembly lube.
03 CBR954RR, 72 750 chopper(970cc
F2 head), 2017 CRF450R, 2001 CR250R, 72 CB500, 79 XR250, 04 CRF50,70's soon to be rebuilt cb750 drag bike.

Using a assembly lube is exactly what you need. I have built my share of v8s and that's all I have ever used . I am new to bikes but i always try and prime the oil pump on my cars after a new motor before start up. And use good oil to break in cams(for flat tappet)

Oh I understand. Oil threads tend to go viral around here LOL  ;)

As mentioned, prime your oil pump. Also fill the tank and pour the rest down the oil return holes in the front of the head through the valve caps so it'll go directly to the sump.

No oil tank on the A's, but point well taken.

I use BG's assembly lube(prelube) and Honda's moly paste to make a mixture. Bill
