Fender 30 amp (w/Pics) Fixed
« on: December 26, 2014, 11:30:43 PM »
Hey All,
I was at the goodwill outlet and right in front of me rolls out a amp. I grab it flip it over. it is a Fender 30. all tubes in it and looks like it will clean up nice. I don't play so guy next door already lifted an eyebrow.
I'm sure its worth all the 3.99 I paid for it.
I'll post up some pics tomorrow.

Man, they make some solid state stuff that's all I get. Do you use it? It sounds like a really nice size.

A Fender 30 with tubes?  Interesting, I've not heard of that and I've been playing Fender tube amps my whole life. Pics, please! I wonder if it's a 70's/80's amp that wasn't around long.

Googled it - looks like early 80's, so it's a solid state rectifier like my Pro Reverb. Nice score! Why can't that ever happen to me? smh.

No body know's much about this amp, it was only out 1 or 2 years. I'm headed to the music store today to have it checked out. I work right next door to them. I was reading on a forum that they only made like a 1000 units per year.
Pics to follow later today battery charging in camera.

Nice!  Even has a tube rectifier. That's a good little amp right there. I'm jealous as hell. I would love to have that in my possession. If I had my Pro Reverb sold I'd be asking to buy that from you but I haven't yet...

The owner of the shop I just dropped off to about fell on the floor. There isn't much out there on this amp. I read on a forum that they may of only did a 1000 or 1500 # run of these.

I did help a lady put in a computer chair in her car at the Arc the other day.
Don't you have to be a sinner first to be a saint?

It's at the shop now getting checked out before we let more smoke out.
I hope to have it back next week. Not sure how busy the shop is. I don't play but everything I have read these amps are sweet sounding. The guy next door plays and says lets just hook it up sure enough started smoking opps the shop owner laughed said no problem we can get it going.
I can't find much out there.

I had a guy call me once and we met at my shop and he pulled out this Fender tweed amp to try and sell me.  It has some ties to an old group, The Green Valley Boys that used to play and record here, had their own TV show back in the day and he was a relative. I bought it. Its an all original Fender Pro Amp I believe from the late 50's maybe.  I asked about the guitar but it was already gone  :-X   I think it may be worth quite a bit, anybody got any idea ?  I do not play but my son said it worked and sounded great.

Think maybe I saw where an amp like yours sold on E-bay for around $850.00 +, looks like you found a real jewel at the Goodwill.  Around here not much slips through the cracks. The 'appraiser' in our area is pretty sharp and the good stuff, antiques etc. ends up on their online website/auction internet page and the low end broken stuff stays in the store.   :P   http://www.shopgoodwill.com/gallery.asp

1 tube was in wrong. Tab broken. 2 6l6's bad, 4 transistors and few other things. Parts 80.00 and 2 hour labor. I'll be into it about 130.00.

Looks like a decent PP 6L6 amp. With 30+ going on 40 years you will probably want to replace all the electrolytic capacitors if you want to use this unit safely.

Meanwhile I have resisted my pro reverb on eBay three times without a single offer and it's been completely restored back to blackface specs minus the solid state recitifier it has, recovered, new quality speakers...

Dammit! Lol

Is there any other date code on the speaker besides the 005379 code on the magnet? Odds are it looks like a Pyle with a ceramic magnet. I bet if you slipped a sweet alnico wooger in there it would sound even sweeter.

He should have called you if the work was going to go above the quoted price.
I repeated it more than once when I brought in my turntable to a local shop for some cartridge and tonearm tweaking that if it went above the bench rate I already paid to call me and talk to me first.

no don't see anything.
It just says Fender musical instrument. Specialty speaker.
Shop said it was the original speaker.
I found a russian made Big Muff pedal a month back also. I brought it into the shop and they played through it that is a nice pedal.
I'm in the service  part of life also, if it is 20.00 more than the quote we call, but they know we have a 20 parts allowance.
