Decided to take off the top triple clamp on my bike today to clean/paint.

Yeah, I didn't prop the bike up.

Once that last leg was unbolted...  well, you can imagine what happened.

Cap went flying, bike went to the floor, I started crying.

Holy hell, that's a tough break.  Any damage to the bike?
Well anyway, take comfort in knowing that somebody else (probably me) will screw up even worse very soon.....I just can't wait until I start rebuilding my front end :-\

Takes a strong spirit to admit that mistake to everyone... We all make silly oversights.  You get eager to try out that new Idea, and common sense goes clean out the window.

I have a rear swing arm stand, but thought the side stand was good enough.  Damn!

I bolted a mount on to my garage rafter and plan on hoisting the front end off the ground to finish up.  I also want to shim the forks to get them a little stiffer and change the oil in them.

Luckily, only damage was to my (already slightly broken) front right blinker.

I "ooops'd" the other day when I went to set the bike down on the side stand (that I had just put up) and then got momentarily stuck as the whole she-bang started to tip over.  Some swearin' and a lot of straining got the bike back up without incident.  Anyone care to guess what I did first after getting up and on the stand?

Yep! I looked to see if anyone else saw me in my moment of stoopidity!
