Finally after many years of neglect she's going to get a home She is one of the ones I worked on in a time long ago and a land far away.

So where is she going? Not to the Paul Allen collection is it? We could be so lucky here in the Seattle area.

No she's going to Edmonton where as I understand it they are going to clean her up, get rid of the rotten bits, rebuild now I don't think that they will rebuild her in to flying condition (which would be fantastic) but she'll be able to taxi I think the draw back is coin  of the realm.http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/programs/informationmorningfredericton/lancaster-bomber-moving-1.2999751
There's more info there. I believe she was one of the A/C that dropped food to the Dutch people before the end of the war for that reason alone she should be saved.

That's a shame. That's one thing about the Allen collection, they are all in flyable condition. Pretty cool.

If you like antiqu planes here's a story for you. These guys spent a lot of time and money to refurbish a boeing 307 stratoliner to flying condition. On the initial test flight someone forgot to put fuel in it! DOH! Guess they had to start fom scratch.

That is really too bad, A/C are fragile things and need saving and protecting so much of our histories are tied up in planes  I guess unfortunately I'm of an age that's stuck on old ones I have the feeling that any thing after the Mig 15 and the F 86 don't look planes any more but then I get the same feeling for bikes any thing after the CB 750 or the Z1 don't much look like bikes, my all time favorites are the Matchless G45's , CB 750, and MV 4's none of which I can afford, Oh well, so it goes, I'll have to go out and buy a lottery ticket.

Stev-o She came back to Canada after 11 trips over Europe  2/6/45 and after she got here they modified her to maritime patrol standards and was put on strength 407 squadron and flew out of RCAF station Comox BC and after that she was modified again to Photo Recon flew out of Rockcliff Ottawa and mapped part of Canada's north and finally flew to Edmonston New Brunswick where she was parked 50 years ago. Now do I remember that exact A/C no because when I got to Comox I was only an AC1 (aircraftsman first class, an apprentice if you will) and was in aircraft maintenance (in the hangar) and wasn't allowed to wander the flight line with the adults, for the first 6 months I was allowed to wash cowlings, sweep floors, run for parts, help the crew, get tools and apprentice type things. It's also  a hell of a long time ago. Any how you can see she's a historical A/C and important If you guys had a B 17 with as much history you'd want her preserved as well, the other thing is I haven't got log books I've just read the she was part of Operation Manna and she had done 11 trips before that. I suppose one of the happiest times of squandered life working on Lancs and Neptune's where the only worries were getting laid and finding enough suds to quench an immense thirst. Oh as far as when it would have been 58-59.
