thats a really well done cafe, but the tank leaves a little to be desired.  a couple of knee-dents would almost make the bike worth that kind of money.

edit: nevermind, $7000 is too much for almost any cafe project bike- that isnt your own anyway.

What's crazy is the prices people have been paying for years for custom choppers.

I think it's about time people started over-paying for cafe racers!  Come to think of it, if you want to stand out in the chopper crowd, this is a Bargain!!!

Plus, I know these guys (www.motcafe.us).  Glad to know they're being paid handsomely for their work.  Just glad I'm not paying for it.    ;)

I think its a really nice bike....one question...the CB900f shocks they use - which years fit the CB750s (KO-K6) and is it a straight bolt on? Are they longer or was is the real advantage?

cheers
Andy

Should have changed rear wheel to at least an 18", the 16 with wide tyre just looks wrong
Its just a seat and bars conversion

Cafes are very personal items - each reflecting their owners tastes. That's why its almost impossible to find one that all can enjoy equally. The same used to be true for choppers, but the innundating of cookie-cutter examples thrown out hourly by Jesse James, the Teutels, Billy Lane - makes them irrelevant to most people now. Cafes are now the best types for expressing oneself.

Hey, I'm with all of you on the price.

Obviously the people bidding are not members of this forum.  They're people that want a cafe racer, without doing the work.  I think everybody here actually enjoys that wrenching part of the process.

I just wanted to point out that your hard work might now pay off.  Instead of losing money on these bikes, those of you so inclined might now be able to reap some rewards.  I'm sure people that do their own chopper customization think the prices people pay are ridiculous too.  That doesn't mean they aren't profiting from someone else's insanity.

Strike while the iron is hot, I say.

So what do you think Crpy sold that Bike to the Green Day guy for. I'm sure with all the work he had into it, it was more than 7k. Why dose it have to have a vtwin in it to bring a good price. I know that guy just sold the CR on ebay for like 20k. I you build it they will come!!!

Are these those JC Whitney gauges?  They look good on this bike.

Overall it's a nice bike...I say more power to 'em.  Greg's bike with all that detail work should be worth a few bucks too.  Put it on Ebay with a crazy reserve price and see what people are willing to pay.  I bet the Greenday dude paid the Rock Star price for the bike.  He probably bought the extended warranty too.

Those CB900 shocks will work on anything with the clevis bottom mount.  I've put them on my 400 and they work nice.  They're longer (14.5 inches) than most stock shocks, so they'll speed up your steering inputs considerably.  I installed clip-ons at the same time, so I lost a little leverage at the bars but gained some response from the change in steering geometry.  Pretty much cancelled each other out.

If Cafes are the next big thing, whats next "cookie cutter cafes"?
Is this even possible?  I have yet to see another supersport let alone a cafe here in Toledo.
I think it's safe to assume this will never reach the popularity of choppers due to the fact that it's becoming harder and harder to come by good platforms.
I dont think they'll start bringing back into production old race frames and products. rickman, seeley, dunstall, yoshi, RC, etc.  But it sure would be cool. 8)

Egay is not something to get too excited about, just becuase one goes for that much does not mean another will. There could be dead beat bidders or scammers bidding on it. Sometimes two or three people will get into a war and bid over their heads, there are just so many variables until the seller has the cash in hand and the bike is picked up don't get too excited.
I am not trying to beat this down, it is great to see something other than on OCC knock off pulling in som cash. It looks like the bike does not have half the work most of us here put into our creations  :)

I won't deny this is a good looking cafe racer. I would be proud to own it.  I would even buy it.... but you'd have to lop a zero off the end of the price first.
If I'm like most of my cohorts in this forum, we ride these vintage bikes because we like the looks, sound, feel.... and the price of these classic, mass-produced motorcycles.

I will consider cafe-ing an SOHC4 if I ever pick up a second one. But 'til then, I don't want to modify the one I own.  I'm very fond of the stock look, too!
Don't use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice.

Agreed. My bike is 31 years old. 10 years older than me!  :o  It's not so much the look of the bike, but the pure satisfaction riding, restoring, and working on it brings. Any SQUID can buy a new bike off the show room floor. It take a connoisseur and one who actually loves his/her bike to own a classic.  ;D

Not as hot as we thought. I was just on ebay and nticed the $7000 bid got retracted. Still is a sweet looking cafe. Anyone here ever use gauges like the ones on that cafe? I kinda like the down-sized look of them.
