350F Piston to Bore clearence?
« on: January 02, 2015, 11:29:35 PM »
Greetings all and Happy New Year!!
I'm currently starting to tackle the engine overhaul of my once perfect 350F....perfect until the plug seal that covers the left side of the main shaft(just ahead of the front sprocket) partially popped out and dumped all of the oil unbeknown to me until the engine bound up solid during a top speed run....Bloody nice huh??!!!
*****On a side note, we all may want to have a peek at this plug seal on our bikes because I'm extremely lucky the road I was traversing was pin straight as the rear wheel was completely soaked with motor oil before the seizure*****
My question is....Does anyone have the piston to bore clearance spec? The service manual doesn't seem to list this for some reason other than it gives a bore and piston spec....are we supposed to take the difference between the two...is that it?  If so, I come up with .0008".....darn that seems
 tight!!
Help please
Thanks,
Dave

I'm not familiar with the 350/4's, just remember that you are dealing with tiny little pistons and that in air cooled engines the cylinders grow more than in water cooled engines. Does sound about right to me though, but don't take my word for it. ;D

Sucks about the motor..  I had the gear shifter seal work out once but I caught it rather quickly...
