Topic: Cbr600 usd forks

So here is my dilemma. I am putting an 06 600rr front end on my 72 cb500 I would like to run the entire rr front end but I like the look and feel of the cb600f upper clamp. I ended up finding a euro 06 cb600f upper and lower triple for a good price and since the 600f uses a used for I thought they would fit the rr forks. I was wrong the rr fork uppers a slightly larger in diameter. I have searched and have not been able to find much info on the 600f forks or find any to use without breaking the bank. Is there a diff upper clamp I could use too fit the rr forks? Any suggestions or info is appreciated.

Welcome to the world of mixing and matching parts.  The 06 hornet 599 looks like it may have used the same usd forks as the euro cb600f. 

If it's only a few mm you may be able to get a machinist to bore out the upper clamp to accept the larger diameter RR  fork legs.  Otherwise I'd say take the street fighter route and drill some handlebar mounts into the top of a standard set of RR upper clamps.

I'd have to actually measure it out but I think it maybe possible to machine it out some I just worry about reducing the strength of the parts by removing material. I am trying to keep this somewhat factor looking rather than drilling holes and putting in risers to the RR clamp. I will get some pictures shortly.

so I finally got around to taking some pictures of both triples. The one on the left is the CBR600RR and the right is the CB599(Euro). For the top triple clamps both the 600 and 599 clamps measure 48mm where the fork mounts. The bottom clamp is where I am having my trouble the 600 clamp is 53mm where as the 599 is 52mm. The only other difference I found is the 599 clamp is about 3/8" wider than the  600 and has a diff rake.
Do you think I would be fine opening up the lower 599 tripple  to 53mm without weakening the clamp to much?
