I'm new, i'm bad and i LOVE my CB650Z! Hellow!
« on: October 08, 2006, 07:23:14 AM »
Wel hellow.

I'm a 21years old belgium boy.

After driving like 5 years on lot's of moped's (old one's) it was time to move on.

I got a job. And with my first paycheck, i went to the motorlesson thing.
To do things to get my driving paperwork done. (working on that ;) )
Allso i started to look around what moto i really liked + my little budget had to... support it.

I found myself looking on the net, talking to people... There was allway's a guy passing by with a honda Cx500 it think. I liked it. But it... was not that perfect. Allmost.
Suddenly at a pardy there was a guy who had this motorcycle standing at his place. He did not drive it... just standing... I started to asking what type, if the sold it ... the same day we went looking. I LOVED IT !!  It was a cx with more power and a similar look. He asked 300€ts It was dirty, it was bad, but allright. Needed some attention... So here was i having some attention :D Perfect match!

Now it was time i started to look at my new... thing
Things i have done now:
-Ordering new oil filter, bolts, ... -> things to give my boy fresh new oil
-Cleaning it like hell. -> bling bling
-New fuel line
-Fixing the front brake's -> the bolts were you let the air out were... rusty so at work i will drill them out, getting it fixed!
-Some new light's -> Dashbord things
-Km cable fixing -> new
-cable for the gas fixing -> new
-Battery charging
-add some more air to the Tire's -> 2 - 3 bar!

Well that's about it for today. It's allmost 17u -> i go and have a drink

Greetings from belgium and i hope you like my bike! :)

They're terribly underrated so you'll probably get some ribbing along the way.

I've got a '79 CB650z and am loving it.

The 400T never seen it before but idd my sweety's but looks better.

I do have some problems now. Darn front brake's. The bolt were you let the air out is broken by the last owner. So it's drilling and fixing now.
Hell i might just buy 2 new "klauwen" -> The things that hold the brake pads ... ;)

Thanx for the nice and warm welcome!

welkom, bienvenue, willkommen,

one bit of advice,

if the tires are in need of air, two things MAY be true:
1) they are old enough to be hard and dry rotted (look for hairline fissures or cracks in the tread and sidewalls
2) the tires may have developed flat spots from sitting in the same spot for a long time.

either way treat your baby right and get her some new kicks (if you know what bling bling is you should know what kicks are,) because the result of bad tires is a laydown.  only a fool would put off taking care of the one thing between all that beautiful metal and the high speed asphalt rushing by underneath it.  don't ask me how i know.
 ;D

otherwise enjoy the site and ride the hell out of her,

The Tire's were just a little bit flat :D I did check if there were some cracks in the sidewalls... NONE :D *yeeeeaaahhhh!* But i did spray them with silicone gel (WD40) afterwards to be sure.  And i heard the last owner that he has put new tire's on it last year. So They are good for a lot of km's ;)

Thanks for the advice :)

But Kicks? Erm NO idea. I do sometime's say "keppe"
And i hate the word "cava" (French for "ok", "allright") A lot of people say it all the time. *AARRRGGG*

My First DRIVE ...
Well my plate finally came with the mail! After work real fast looking for some bolt's to mount it and do some driving!

Starting ok!
Right gear ok!
Good mood ok!

BROEEEEEMMMMM ;D

-First time real driving with the honda so it was kinda ... looking, playing, dolling, you now... messing around.
-He take's hiss corners good but he's a little "heavy" so i don't now. It's a big difference compairing with my last (suzuki A100) "moped"
-The steering position is good. I like it. After 50 km's i still was sitting good no suffering, no pain, just cruising!
-The front brake's are not really that good. But i only run on 1 of the 2 discs one of the bleeders god wheak and broke. So i'm looking for some now pare of brake's.
-Back brake is good.
-Leaking. I FOUND A SINGLE DRUP! started looking like hell. Where is it? Where did the drup of oil come from. No idea, not the honda
-Err did some highway. Got to 130km/u something like 80 mph go's well. 4000 - 5000 rpm. Good GOOD
-Stoped with my girlfrind for a soda some angry look from her mother but hell :D
-He did not start that well. Hmm have to charge him again. Maybe checking out the charger. Strange.
-Did i mention i love to cruise around! 80 - 90 km/u (50 - 60 mph)

Well that's about the things that mather in life :D Good bike, no rain, Fuel!

Things to plan:
-Take the trash out
-Calculate how many fuel he's drinking
-Driving driving driving!
-Paint job! "CB650Z" with a number "36" behind it on the side panel & a some black stripe's on the tank.

Gtz and goodnight!

You probably need to go through the charging system. First thing, check the resistance across the rotor. That's usually the first to go. If that's bad, you'll probably have to replace your R/R, too. Check the link in my sig for a cheap R/R. Good luck!

I bought a druppel loader battery charger and so far no more problems with electrical stuff! *hoeraayyyy ;D*

I calculated how mutch fuel he's drinking... and it was a little to mutch.
8,1L / 100km But i did drive a lot of highway... Still it's alot! Checkt the oil level and it was at it's lowest point.
And after a lot of driving it still drops some oil out. So the bike has some oil problems!

Oil fixing progress raport: http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=15139.0 Here is the unlucky post :(

Also i bought an immitation oil filter bolt and it IS a lot better than the original oil filter bolt!!
The bolt itself from honda is only M13 But the immitation is M16 or M17 i'm not sure.
Guess what the darn honda bolt won't come loose *grrrrr*

So far it was fun driving (even it's getting colder) but now i hope on a quick repair...

Gtz

edit: Ow yeah a little while after i bought the bike i also bought a new helmet and a pair of glove's but the darn pair of glove's have a scratch in it! Hope i find the proof of garanty back  :-\

Hey Brunow!

One newbie to another, welcome!  Sweet bike!
Your posts are excellent!  You write English better than I do!  Keep it coming! ;D
These guys can definitely help you sort out charging problems, oil leaks, and stuck filter bolts, all of which are pretty common problems.
