Problem replacing rear wheel bearings
« on: January 05, 2015, 03:47:21 PM »
I am replacing the wheel bearings on my K0 cb750 JDM.  It has about 30,000 miles on it.  I replaced the fronts no problems but when I started on the back I removed the brake hub and noticed  the right side bearing looked loose.  so I put my finger through it and was able to pull it out by hand.  There's not a lot of play so I tried the new bearing and I could install by a light push of a finger.  Looks like the outer race had been turning wearing away the hub.  I am thinking of using sleeve sealer the stuff they use for re sleeving cylinders to remove the slack and seal the bearing in place.  Has anyone ever had this problem? Any ideas on a fix using my original hub?

wow, the old bearing must have kinda locked up. Maybe setting the new bearing in a bed of epoxy might work if it is straight.if it is kinda close I think this could work. If not it is new hub time. Dan

I hate to be a downer, but do you really want to jury rig the parts that keep the wheel stable?

^^^ That!

I had it happen in wheel hub and it was steel.  It took only few hundred miles the bearing to enlarge the hub to not servicable dimensions.  Keep it safe and get a new hub.

with the new bearing in place there is really no excess play in the hub which is why I thought that sleeve seal would work.  I might be wrong with that I'm kind of re thinking my idea.  I still have to wiggle the bearing to get it out. it has a bit of friction in and out. Looks like the wear was even its not egg shaped by eye.

if you klean all grease,,and use brake kleanet to dry..the bearing can be lockteited..it holds..just sa good as standart..but it must not be vearet so the bearing can be moveabel vith fingers..it must be a sleitly press to sentere the hveel..
