Nomination for Bike of the Month - February 2015
« on: January 07, 2015, 09:19:52 PM »
As a courtesy to Sam and Justin, and so that February's BOTM doesn't fall through the cracks, I am starting a nomination thread for February 2015.  Since we are only 8 days from the deadline, let's see some nominations.

SohRon won BOTM January 2015 by default (no competitors).  Let's see at least a few nominees.

For those rusty on the rules, here they are:  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=8929.0

If Blackfin5 will get his bike powered up and running, he is my first Nomination. I'll notify him in his build thread, then when he's formally running, he can accept here. Should only a day or two more for him.

In accordance with rule #3, I second the nomination of Blackfin5's Danielle CB550K.

Now, Kevin just needs to fire his bike and accept here. (See Rule 8.)

Here's a picture of Danielle (almost finished):

Well, assuming Kevin gets Danielle fired up in the next week, that will make 1 nomination.  How about some more?!

I think Cal nominated "The Green Hornet" on Oette's 550/650 hybrid build string.

Here's an official nomination!

YouTube

Vimeo
Not a valid vimeo URL
NOTE: Oette was previously nominated WAY back for the November 2013 BOTM.  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=130212.0

His bike qualifies under BOTM rule 4.  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=8929.0

Just something to keep in mind if you believe a past nominee should have another shot at BOTM

Hi Don.  I can accept now.  Although there are several loose ends, I think it's fair to say the build is finished and it's running!  Disclaimer - I have not yet ridden it due to the rain.  Was itching too get on her today.

Kudos to the Green Hornet!  I've been admiring that 650/550 bike for some time.

Way to get the bike completed Kevin. There is always a shakedown period but you should feel a strong sense of accomplishment in completing the build.

Thanks for the kind words. I am glad I can substitute in for Sam while he recovers.

It's hard to believe that we've only nominated 3 bikes over the last three months (December BOTY-January & February BOTM)!  Remember, you can nominate a bike that was previously nominated and did not win as long as 3 months has passed -- just like Oette's Green Hornet.  Many bikes over the last year lost by narrow margins and might warrant a second chance.

FYI - I received a PM from Sam.  His recovery has been rough.  Please direct some good karma, wishes, prayers, etc. his way!

Probably a lot has to do with the time of the year. Folks riding all summer, now deep into their rebuilds. Bet there will be many bikes finished up in March/April.

May have to go back and revisit some others that were nominated but just edged out by other strong builds-
