My Name is Phil, up in Maine.
Started riding a couple years ago. Found a 78' 750 and road it a little bit while living in Boston. I left there to move to maine, sold most things, including the 750, flew to seattle then rode a bicycle from there to maine. 4,280 miles later, I get to my new home, and cant get the idea of getting a honda again, and riding more. Maybe it was all the time on the road, or, the fact that the roads up here look way more fun then the ones in the city.
Anyways, I have been doing a lot of research, figured I would join. I am working on getting two 550's. One is 1978 that i have looked at and put a tarp on it, the other apparently is a 77 "parts" bike that comes with it...it is just in a different state....Glory of craigslist. I wont get into too much detail of this transaction, but it is been a month in the works! Been to see the bike twice, it is legit, just moving slowly, odd situation for the seller.
Plan on getting the 78 rode worthy, and keeping it stock as possible (anyone have the left upper exhaust they want to get rid of?) It looks in great shape, just one exhaust looks like someone stepped on it. I have not seen the 77 yet, but, the seller referred to the 78' as a beater. It looks really really good for a beater, so I am hoping the 77 has more to it than parts....they almost always do.
I would like to do a full tear down on the 77, but do a nice restoration as stock as possible.
Once It all comes together, patience is a virtue, for the price I am willing to wait, Ill start a project page for each and see where they take me. Wont know until i have a better look at them both for sure.
Looking forward to it! And for all the help and advice of this forum. I am very mechanically inclined, but look forward to getting inside one of these, that is new territory for me.
