New member, finding my feet
« on: January 09, 2015, 12:31:10 PM »
Hello SOHC friends.
I have used this site many times in the past for help and tips on a number of Honda related issues and have had great success. I thought it was time to come out of the shadows and join the team. Last summer I purchased a 72 CB500 from Craig's List with the classic title "Great project bike" and that it is. Looking forward to turning my "not running" purchase into a clean café racer. I have started a project forum in the "Project Shop" section of this site. Check it out over the next couple of months to see what trouble I can get myself into. Like I said, I have used this site with great success and hope to help others if and when I can. Thanks, Glenn.

What if his shoes are on the rack? Or under the bed? I think he'd best go with the "at the end of your legs" advice  ;)

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

Welcome from Texas.

Link your project on this thread so it can easily be found.

Your a avatar has got curiosity going, can you elaborate?

Hello Texas. The bike in the avatar is not mine... It's a picture of Burt Munro's Indian motorcycle "The World Fastest Indian". Burt Munro was a New Zealander that hand built this land-speed record setting bike, back in 1967, in his garden shed. I believe the record still stands today (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burt_Munro). Recently there was a movie made about this amazing story, check it out (The Worlds Fastest Indian). I'm from New Zealand (living in Colorado) and believe this story describes our down to earth, problem solving nature, really well. It's not a Honda, but it's one hell of a machine. I'm not Burt Munro, but I sure enjoy fixing stuff.

I hadn't heard of the movie till my wife bought it last year and brought it home. Great movie!
