1975 cb750f oil filter stripped in crankcase
« on: July 25, 2014, 06:04:18 PM »
The aluminum crankcase hole where the oil filter screws in is stripped. Previous owner had tried to address this by tapping the hole and putting a brass fitting in there.

I tried JB weld.
It worked for a bit.
Then the oil leaked out round the gasket again. All the oil.
What I want to know is if I can get a big enough helicoil to fix this?
Any ideas?

They have an adapter for spin on filter upgrade. You can try to thread it in with T-tape or epoxy it in with JB weld. The alternative is helicoil.
