So you're shooting paint out of a compressor? I was going to say if you're doing rattle can, the best frame paint I have used is Duplicolor Fleet Enamel. It's super high build so it covers a lot of the imperfections and is really chemical resistant.

Correct, the paint itself will be shot out of a compressor.

Trying to order some inner tubes/strips but running into some conflicting info.

When ordering an inner tube, do you order based upon the wheel specs or tire specs?

My setup is:
18x2.5" F&R
110/90/18
130/90/18

As long as the diameter is correct the width isn't really THAT crucial. If the tube's a bit undersized it'll inflate and take up the extra space. What got there will work just fine man.

For starters, I had a pretty cute visitor at the shop over the weekend:



Justin at DC sent me a few pics of my jugs underway:







Wheels arrived, finally!



I tossed on my spare jugs, head and VC I had laying around so I could soda blast it:









Blasted it in the big bay in another portion of the building I rent space at.





Quick coat of primer with @checko. This is just for the short block. The head, jugs, VC, etc will be a different sent.



Also pulled a trigger on a CB650 cam and ordered a tachometer gear plug since I won't be running gauges.

I'm pretty sure that is masking Cal. Can you imagine if a shop actually coated a gasket surface and bores? haha.

It looks like the green plastic masking material is adhered directly to the deck surface giving it a darker (black) look.

 Install new KPMI race valve springs

Also to note, those runs in the primer will be sanded down before the paint gets applied. It's driving me nuts just looking at it in the picture.

By M-Switch, I think you mean the M-Button -- so that everything wires into the button which sends a single wire to the M-Unit.  Cal swears by this set up.  I'm planning on using it on my next build.

He does swear by this setup but, I will not be running the m-Button due to me only running a headlight, tail, horn and electric start. No sense in purchasing the button setup when I will have barely anything to run off of it.

Not purchasing it until I figure out what clipons to run since I need to find a set of 1" instead of 7/8" for my internal throttle application.

Well, was running into some issues on this. It's hard to find a 7/8th internal throttle setup since most HD setups are 1" so I will be ordering 7/8th standard clip-ons and have a replacement bar that tapers down to 1" or open the hole on the clip-on itself to 1" so it shouldn't be too bad.

Anyone have input on the color setup? My short block will be that Dupli-Color silver, high temp engine enamel...the jugs are wrinkle black and the head is staying bare, just clean. My thought is, thats techincally 3 colors on the entire engine...having second thoughts on the short block color but then again the only portion you will really see is the back-half where the trans/starter is.

You might want to reconsider painting the head. It will oxidize especially with repeated heating and cooling cycles. It is not easy to clean once assembled into the engine, too.

Don, I have left the cylinder and head on my old 400f project bare after media blasting. Oxidization never settled in after the 3+ years I owned the bike after that. I'm doing the same on my 550k build. It does not happen very fast in my experience. That being said, a coating is likely better. I just like the idea of not having anything being able to chip off.

The PC parts turned out awesome by the way G!

Well I've been second guessing leaving the head bare for asthetic reasons only. I agree, I hate the thought of stuff chipping. I just think it'll look odd going from silver block -> wrinkle black jugs -> bare head -> powder-coated hyper black valve cover.

Whatever works for you is cool. Another thing you might think about is clean up. In the "unlikely" occurrence that you have a valve cover leak, cleaning a coated surface is much easier than bare metal.
