"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. As Dave B and I can attest, you (and your friend) might want to order one of these seals before they go out of stock again.  http://www.cmsnl.com/products/oil-seal-36x57x13_91205426013/

I thought I got the last one in existence! My plan was to destroy all remaining seals once I purchased mine. Good thing I didn't get around to doing that yet.

Is this for the 650 only, right?  Not something I will need for a 550?

I am no expert, but I think the crankseals I ordered for my 550 are a different part number
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

BLAC,

Don't worry about it -- different part number, different kettle of fish.  Note difference in engine covers below.

Well, since I continue getting questions about this I may as well update this some....

So since knowing Nick (Sinister902) I've been busting his chops to finish his CB550 build that's been on hold for many years now.....with that being said after he saw my bike up and running after a complete makeover that took two years he finally decided to get his ass in gear. I also convinced him to go the most logical route, 674cc! Now, I can't let a close friend have more power than me so I decided to also build a 674cc kit for my bike which is never completely "finished" even though I had the pleasure of riding it all season and taking it on long trips and such so obviously why not take it apart! Now we are both supporting each other to get our 550's completed again. Now Nick won't have an excuse when I pull him around a track with the same power! :P

I'm restructuring some stuff so I have some tricks up my sleeve. Back in late December/early January I ordered Devin's prototype rear hub that is designed to use a brembo rotor and caliper that Cal and Don were nice enough to include me in on.

Stoked to see what this thing does with more power and more brakes!

750F hub?

RICKPAUL 19f/18r CB750f wheels (look just like lesters). going to make the rear work with an R6 rear rotor and caliper on a gsxr swingarm, monoshock....front is going to be TL1000R forks with hayabusa calipers and FZR1000 rotors. I designed my own triple trees that I'll upload to emachineshop.com for a quote.

Mhmmm, lester's and Bulleit.

Organized the shop some:

In case anyone is looking for anything particular....I'm friends with a local vintage motorcycle enthusiast who has a ton of old stock:

Also picked up this minty NOS tank that's never been used! Still has the oil coating on the inside from the factory. This will be going on another build I have in the works:

At this point, still waiting on a bunch of parts to come in.

Bulleit is some good stuff. I even prefer the regular bourbon to the 10 year they have.

Agreed! As explaining to Don, I've been on a kick....I've enjoyed Basil Hayden, Bookers and Woodford. Don recommended Willet Pot, Larceny and Four Roses.

Next up on my tasting list:
-Blantons
-Evan Williams Single Barrel
-Buffalo Trace
-Wild Turkey 101

-Old Weller

From my understanding Old Weller is made by the same distillery that does Pappy Van Winkle (Buffalo Trace) and has a pretty similar grain to Pappy Van Winkle but heavier on the wheat that most other bourbons.

Also a fan of Bulleit and Basil Hayden, but need to branch out like you are planning.

Looks like a Gamma in the back of that building. Would be a blast to have a stroll through that collection!

-Elijah Craig 12 year
-Old Weller

I'm kind of one of those guys that will stick to a brand that he likes. Maybe I'll get some nips of those others and test them out, but I don't make any promises, haha. But some bourbon with a small square of 80% dark chocolate is incredible.

Agreed! Those have been by go-to choices but time to see what else is out there. Especially if I can taste something that is from the same manufacturer but doesn't carry the hefty price tag.

If you're ever out this way let me know. He has a TON of bikes. He also has storage with a very well off local guy that has over 100 pristine vintage bikes.

I agree, I typically am as well but I said heck with it, why not. Never tried that, sounds yummy! I'll have to report back to you when I do.

If you're ever out this way let me know. He has a TON of bikes. He also has storage with a very well off local guy that has over 100 pristine vintage bikes.
Does that offer apply to others as well?  I'm going to be at Niagara Falls on August 11th and 12th.  Me and 3 other riders are flying up to Pittsburgh on August 5th where we will rent bikes (through Eaglerider.com by the way...if you don't know about it, it's pretty awesome).  We will ride up through Scranton, PA into NY on Sunday...into Canada on Sunday and go through Quebec City (2 days), Toronto (1 day), Ottawa (1 day) before ending up at Niagara Falls on Friday and Saturday before we return the bikes Saturday afternoon and fly home.  I would absolutely LOVE to visit this guy's place if possible, just to see that sight in person.

Also, if you like the taste of caramel or butterscotch, I HIGHLY recommend this whiskey I found 2 weeks ago.  I'm really hoping one of you guys will try it so that you get hooked on it and I have company when I have to check into the Betty Ford clinic because of it. ;)  It's not too sweet...but it finishes with a really smooth caramel taste that makes this an "ice and whiskey" drink to die for.
