if the front end looks to light to you, maybe try a very small fender painted the same color as the tank to pull some of the main color up front.....could paint the bucket too, but I like that the headlight is stainless steel and might hurt to paint over it. those are all I'd really consider....except maybe like a bikini style fairing just over top of the headlight...

I could never paint that headlight bucket, no way Jose. A small fairing can be added down the road, if need be that is. Can't say I'd like a fender up front, I already don't want one out back as it is, you know that.

Next big purchase is really the triples as I have roughly 15 degrees of turning radius before my clip-ons contact the tank.

I also like the looks of a 1/2 fairing... one that comes to mind is the old Duc 900SS 1/2 fairing.  I believe Airtech sells one.

If you ran a 1/2 fairing, would you have one custom made or are there sources that make them for our mid-fours?

I would not go to the trouble of fitting a fairing for a single track use.

Build your bike for function and it will end up looking great.  Frankly, a fairing will detract from your bike and will be a waste of time and $ for street use.  This is not touring bike but an aggressive street bike.

Just finish this sucka and RIDE it.  You can rub it with a diaper all you want after! ;)

Agreed! I love that fairing! CamRector on here who is local will have that on his one CB550 so I rather not so we have somewhat different styles as we always go to the same shows/rides and what not.

I would likely go for either an Airtech 1/4 piece or something made out of aluminum. I found a couple places in Japan that sells something appealing, just pricey.

I think if you could swap to a black fork, that would help immensely with the front end aesthetics. I think the gold is quite clashing with the tank paint. This would also visually lighten the front end and allow the headlight bucket, body work and trees to be an accented highlight. Also those rims would pop a bit more too.

I think so as well, I simply LOVE the gold forks....not sure how great they look with that tank color though. I'd like to see the bike out in the sun not couped up in a dark garage before making more final decisions. I may slightly internally lower the front end as I don't like how high it sits with that reverse rake.

Damn man, you should have done the test fitting before you painted the tank. The best option for this would be to cut and weld the petcock bung in a non-interfering place on the bottom of the tank. You'll get it sorted though.

One of the reasons why I am relocating the stock petcock and swapping to a Pingle -- since I am running a 750F tank on a 550 frame with a 650 engine and aftermarket carbs.

Wouldn't most of your problems be solved running 17s instead of 18s, and longer rear shocks? Also using the stock carbs for your stock motor would solve the clearance issue.

17s present a different set of issues.  Stock carburetors are not really a viable option for GV now that he's shelled out for the CRs.

Also need to figure out a petcock solution as it also interferes with my CR's.

When I ungraded to CR26 carbs I quickly discovered there was interference with the stock fuel petcock.

I couldn’t find a petcock that would clear the carbs so the interim solution was to machine a straight stainless steel fuel nipple and use an inline fuel tap from Motion Pro. This setup doesn't have a fuel reserve so I've had to learn my distance to empty range and adjust accordingly.

Thats the problem with kids today, despite how many old farts tell them "No", they never listen  ;D

Gennaro - I can't tell from the pictures, but it seem the rear of your tank is sitting above the retention tab? Or is the rubber tab not in place? Perhaps an easier/better modification is to cut and lower the front mounting sticks for your tank. This would increase the top clamp/tank spacing, give you that forward pitch aesthetic, and maybe help with relocating the petcock to the front half of the tank as it would now be the lowest point. You'd have to probably be close to the interior tunnel for the petcock to clear the valve cover and avoid the coils. Or is there a different model of petcock that might work if you swap the bung?

The tank may have not been in the rubber place, I'd have to double check honestly. I've searched petcocks back when this was a primary concern and came up empty handed. I will figure something out without cutting the tank back up.

I still prefer 17's also, stock carbs are not a viable option for my setup, period. I wanted carbs no one around here has, something I never had to worry about. I also wanted these carbs for when a different motor goes in, one day far far down the road. Buy it right the first time.

Yessir. This will most likely be the solution, just stinks no reserve especially considering I ride my motorcycles a TON, they aren't garage queens.
