I'm sure I could find this if I looked back, but did you use a different color on the covers than on the case? Clutch cover looks darker than the case.

Thank you, sir!

Yeah, I had most of the covers powder-coated in a "hyper black" which is a dark grey. The short block is painted high temp ceramic grey engine paint. The head is raw.

My MC reservoir. Decided to come up with that instead of using a regular hose with cap on top. Sinister902 turned it for me.

Cal or anyone else who has the experience; please do tell me how my geometry is "jacked" as I'm sick of being told this. This week I will be measuring neck angle, fork length to configure what the trail currently is vs stock so we can put this silly dilemma to bed.

I can't quite picture what you're describing? That cylinder is your reservoir? For the front or rear brakes? If for the front, I'd be curious if it will hold sufficient volume to properly actuate your brakes. If for the rear, that's a bit more viable as its only actuation is to pull the drum rod.

Curious and mildly intrigued... :-\

There are plenty of folks far more knowledgeable than I am with respect to geometry. But, my input/opinion is this: I have ridden lots of bikes over the past 35 years on the street, literally traveling nearly 500,000 miles on 2 wheels. I dare say, that among them, few ever shared the exact rake/trail numbers amongst them. Many were probably close, and there are solid, industry targets for differing types of bikes that are worth consulting.

Depending entirely upon the type of bike, its purpose, your riding style and habits, I don't know if you can create a bike from numbers that's "perfect". Many pro riders tweak endlessly for their style and preference, and of course track conditions. But thats on the track. Can you really ride on the street the difference in 0.5 degrees of trail? I am dubious.

Looking at your bike, the only thing that catches my eye is the aspect ratio on the rear tire (we've discussed since your choice for it) looks too tall. A taller diameter rear wheel than the front is not a good idea. Will it handle? Probably. Jeez, your entire bike is non-stock and upgraded on the handling/steering/braking fronts, so who's to say? Ride the darn thing, and tweak it as you go. Any "opinion" as to it being jacked up is conjecture in my opinion. Without measured numbers, how can anyone say for certain what the geometry will do? Its all cobbled together from other bikes.

Besides, what do "they" know; you have a steering damper installed  ;)

when GV was ordering the 45mm offset triples I had him take some rough measurements..... at the time I did some math

if we are to assume the neck angle is stock (probably not but it's a starting point).....

stock trail is 4.1 based on this very site's info page.

with GV's setup assuming stock neck angle, his trail would be 4.45

playing with the neck angle number yields an change of .25" per degree of neck angle either direction. With the rear tire size, the worst case is probably realistically 2* which would put him just barely under 5" of trail or on the other side about 3.95"..... so, either the steering damper is gonna help with potentially fast steering, or it may need to be removed due to slightly slow and "heavy" steering. Regardless, as Cal says....it's going to be more than rideable. And at the end of the day, if it's some huge problem it's a simple rear tire change that's what.....$80-90?

His neck angle and stem are stock, just the offset is different.

His neck angle and stem are stock, just the offset is different.

with respect to the rest of the frame it is unchanged, but not with respect to the level plane it travels on....

it's measured to the perpendicular of the surface the wheels ride on....so with the rear having 1.48" more tire outside diameter and the front having .29" less tire outside diameter, the angle with respect to perpendicular to the ground will be different than 27*

I see the point you're making, Nick  :) I interpreted your earlier post as a possibility his frame had been modified at the neck.

By the way, the frame you showed is a 750  ;) Just for clarification  :)

It's obviously important to have a comprehensive understanding and respect for motorcycle geometry especially if you're building a competitive race chassis but this isn't a competitive race bike. The specifics mentioned above are viewed in isolation and do not take into consideration other aspects of the build. Primarily a reduction in fork offset. From your measurements the steering head angle will be reduced by approx. 1° which reduces trail. Trail is increased with a reduction in fork offset so one can easily offset the other but it's important to remember that frame geometry is a science based on compromises. Take a look at modern motorcycle specifications and you wil see that there isn't one perfect spec but many different approaches to the same end goal.
You never see a motorcycle parked outside of a psychiatrist's office!

Another tire is $60....I can afford it lol. When originally ordering tires, I wanted the meaty look out back on purpose......knowing that, I may need to go down a size eventually - really not a big deal. 130/80 would still be a taller diameter than the 110/90....which 110/90 would be 99% and 130/80 is 104%. This specific build will still out handle any local CB550/500 show motorcycle around a track even with the tires on it now and I have no problem showing that.

stock tire sizes had 1.6% difference in diameter front to back, and 20% width difference front to back.... 110/90/18 up front and 130/80/18 out back is 1.5% and 18%.....super close!

The antigravity battery has a standing voltage of 13.5v as it is, so it is really tough to say if the bike is charging or not

otherwise we need to get the tail sniffer on it and see where it's at on jetting before he takes it out for a spin to seat the rings. Very minor details left to iron out.
