That bikes is sweet, I like the Right side GSXR Brake. Super stoked to get mine from Devin....Got some beautiful forks, calipers, and Galfer Wave rotors from Don (CB750 Cafe Racer). Just waiting on my trees, wheel, etc. Thank thing must handle like a dream now.

Since you've had a decent amount of riding experience with modern sport bikes, and a CB500/550 with stock suspension/brakes, what are your specific impressions on this restomod's handling, dampening, turn it, stability, braking (feel, stability, stopping distance), etc.?

Obviously it cannot really compare too much to my current "sport bike" which is the MV Agusta but, it surely does well for it's class. My old café CB550 had a dual front disc CB750 front end as well as CB750 disc rear and this surpasses it's handling capabilities thus far. That bike handled superb but, the turn in was a bit heavy. In my opinion, that may be due to a few different variables, primarily (in my eyes) due to weight and also suspension geometry. The handling on my current CB appears to be very nimble. With that being said, the turn in does feel good but I will be adding a damper down the road so corner/exit speed can be controlled better in a smooth fashion. As far as stability is concerned, it feels pretty darn stable and planted, especially for those awesome trail numbers.   Stopping distance I have not pushed it as I have a tiny reservoir tube and rather not test it fully until in safer environment; the track. It stops great though, don't get me wrong! It is just interesting going from a 140hp Italian monster to an old Japanese girl.

Overall, I am very pleased with the handling.

That is good to know Genarro. I'm super stoked for mine. Going to be so awesome. I put bronze swingarm bushings in the rear of the CB750 and have a brand new set of Hagons to go on the rear so along with the full setup with the dual disks up front, should handle a lot different. Was good to hear your thoughts on yours though buddy! Keep it up, love that bike

140hp is decent for a 'starter bike', I prefer my German girl with 200hp    jk your bike is sweet.

Many thanks for the evaluation, GV.  It's good to get some real world feedback on these modern front conversions versus our assumptions. 

IF you get a chance down the road, it would be interesting to know the weight of your bike vs. the stock CB550 (approx. 425 lbs wet).  Also, when you track it, you'll have to let us know if the single front brake rotor is sufficient.

Like most technical issues, the problem with that German Girl was the American Dolt behind the bars. I assure you, that bike would "toast" your Italian wench in the proper hands. And I love Italian bikes! But let's be honest, rider skill is just about everything on a track.

You might be able to out brake the S1000RR on the MV but there's no way overall you will out accelerate the S1000RR out of any corner or straight.

I had fun trading spots in my GSXR750 and my buddy's CBR1000RR at the track.  I out-cornered him and he would overtake me as soon as we were on a straight.
