Yeah, it's great weather out but I'm sicker than a dog (have been for almost 2 weeks now) - so I spent my morning watching motorcycle fail videos. A few things surprised me, quite a few didn't really.
1) Tons and tons of people who think they're stunt riders and really aren't. I wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed when I was in my 20's, so I can't give them too much flak. Although some of them were above and beyond the call of stupid.
2) A fair number of people who were just trying to be cool and paid the cost. In a way I'm glad I watched some of this because it could have easily have been me doing that. You know, the moment comes up, maybe a pretty girl walking by and yeah you blip the throttle or strike a pose and then <BAM!>
3) A fair number of people who fell victim to bad drivers. Lots (far too many) incidences of drivers who turned suddenly, braked suddenly, cut over suddenly, didn't look (obviously) and took out a rider. I saw one poor sap on a bagger get pinned and dragged by at least 10 chain link fence posts mounted on a Jersey barrier (and probably separated his shoulder and quite possibly broke a few ribs). That could easily be me - and almost was one time.
4) People who dropped it for absolutely no reason at all. Maybe the tire lost traction for a fraction of a second, maybe the bike cut out on them, they leaned it over just a fraction too much in a turn.
Lastly, there are a lot of bad Russian riders and drivers.
At any rate, it helps kick you back into reality. "That could be me, well except for the stunt riders".
