1970 CB750K Throtlle cable Routing
« on: January 31, 2016, 01:03:37 PM »
Need to know how the single throttle cable is routed on a '70 CB 750; how it routes through/around frames tubes. Also, several on-line videos show the #1 and #4 carb cable being routed outside the frame tube? Is this correct? Thanks in advance!

Just so happens I have a shot or 2 of those cables.
After leaving the twist grip the cable goes in the gap behind the speedo and tach(towards the rear of bike)....where the later models have the warning lights.
If the pics don't spell it out clearly enough, just say as I am taking the tank off soon to replace petcock bits and can take a few more pics to really spell it out.

If you route the upper cable improperly, it can catch on a reflector and rev your engine in a parking lot turn dangerously close to your own car. Hint, have your hand on the clutch already if this happens. Happened to a friend, yeah that's it a friend did it. Wasn't me, really.

Seriously, it's good that you asked. Guessing wrong can be problematic.

No problem.
Had the tank off today so here are a couple more showing the rest of the cable.

Sure, Bud did it. Scared me bad though.
