Switch and throttle removal help
« on: January 16, 2015, 02:11:28 PM »
I'm trying to replace my handlebars... How do I remove the throttle and the start switch? The switch is just the two screws on the bottom and pull the wires through the bars, correct? Thanks. I looked in the manuals but didn't see any specifics. Also searched but didn't find anything...

Two screws and they come apart. They are like a clamshell. Then alternately tug and push the wires out

Pull by the wires not the switch so you don't damage the switch internals

Is there a trick or an easy way to disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle control?

Disconnect the cables from the carbs, it will be really obvious then. You will have tons of free play. No magic, just what you see. Nuts and bolts

Thanks. Got the cables disconnected but the wires are giving me a lot of trouble. After 30+ mins pulling/pushing I think the wires have moved less than an inch and I broke one at the switch

Spray some WD40 inside those bars and get a second pair of hands, makes things loads easier.
